The Legend Of Zelda Discussion Thread

It’s a trailer that very much focuses on the sandbox chemistry system, but that’s not really what I’m personally looking forward to the most. I’m really just hoping for a better story, better characters, dungeons and some interesting new locations. So really only the Sky Islands and the Zonai references touch on what I’m looking forward to most in this trailer.

The marketing hasn’t been great. I don’t think this will be “BotW DLC”, but I can definitely see why people think that. They are erring a bit too much on tne side of caution with what they have showed so far. Think folk would rather have a good story trailer.

And while I don’t think that it will be BotW DLC, I do have a suspicion it’s going to be Zelda’s Mario Galaxy 2, rather than a new Majora’s Mask. A great game, well worth the price, but missing that bit of spark and innovation, just that bit too similar to the first one.

I think it's pretty clear at this point that they're doubling down on the freedom philosophy from BotW.

Can't say how that will affect the story but i very much doubt we'll get "traditional" dungeons at this point.
They'll most likely be like the Divine Beasts again, but hopefully larger, with a theme and a unique bosses lol

It's a toss up at this point. Shrines seem to be out the window so something new has to replace those. Overall, the way you interact with the world seems to be different. The layout of the map is somewhat different as well, we just don't know to what extent. It's a given that the game will be good, but it's all about meeting people's expectations since everybody wants different things. A portion of the fanbase is bound to be disappointed.

We always knew this game was doubling down on freedom. What we don't know yet is if they are bringing back some of the more traditional elements such as thematic dungeons and items. Seems to me that items like the hookshot are not coming back in this game, but I still think dungeons are coming back, but maybe not in the way we expect.
