I feel like a lot of people misunderstood Oda’s intention with Kid’s powers and as a result, unfairly malign Kid as being bad at using his DF.
Why is Kid supposedly bad at using his powers? Because he just uses them to throw metal and doesn’t pull the iron out of people’s blood like magneto in that one x men movie.
But what people don’t get is, the magnetism fruit isn’t that type of DF.
There are some DFs that are inherently overpowered. These include those such as the Ope Ope no mi, Gura gura no mi, every logia, and most mythical zoans.
The magnet fruit just isn’t one of these powers.
In order for it to be strong, it needs to be used creatively, like the gomu gomu no mi. Hence, rather than having abject broken powers, like Law’s gamma knife or Kroom, Kid’s strength comes from the strength of his constructs.
These constructs:
- punk gibson
- punk rotten
- punk corna dio
- damned punk
Effectively parallel Luffy’s gears in that they are forms invented by the user that maximize the DF’s strength.
Ultimately, it’s not that Kid is bad at using his powers. Rather, his DF just isn’t that powerful on it’s own and requires ingenuity in order for its power to be Maximized.
