The animals help Momotaro beat the band of oni in Onigashima but they don't fight the oni chief. Momotaro fights him alone and then the Oni chief surrenders.

I feel Oda decided that there were a ton of fights that had to take place against kaido

1. The scabbards vs Kaido - Revenge for 20 years ago
2. The Supernova vs Emperors
3. Momotaro and the three animals vs the Oni King for the Momotaro payoff


So who knows this probably won’t be the last fight but we should be getting close.

He literally said the opposite in Chapter 999. He said he will have to hold off on fighting Kaido to help with the performance floor
