Oda gave Luffy a Nika Fruit to balance out how unfair he had been to Luffy.

Luffy was not taught any martial arts, was not taught Swordsmanship/ Clubmanship and did not physically train in his life until Wano.

Oda did thia because Luffy had not changed since he was child besides haki.

Even Garp has top of the level marine training.

So no, it did not ruin Luffy. This HAD TO BE DONE.

There were two things that weren’t necessary that facilitated this laughable retcon; the CP0 dude interrupting the fight and the knockout that caused Luffy’s apparent death. What makes it worse is the fact that Luffy could have had a normal paramecia awakening and that would have done exactly 99% of what his soyboy nika G5 mode is doing right now. Can’t tell if Oda is serious by telling the audience that haki reigns supreme in the recent chapter after the ridiculous display and hype with the Nika fruit being “limited by the user’s imagination” and what not.

Still can’t get over the fact that the Gorosei should have known that Luffy was a mythical Zoan all along and yet they never sent any top Cipher Pol agents/Warlords/Admirals to capture/assassinate him even as he was running around the Grand Line as a complete weakling up until the past 2 or so months.

We’re supposed to believe that these men are smart enough to run the largest organization in the entire world when they’re too incompetent to even attempt to capture a helpless 17 year old?

Well, very little makes sense in post-skip OP.

Oda simply shits on consistent and at least somewhat logical storytelling these days.

The way he already promised to "tighten things up in the final saga", be prepared for the BB pirates and WG/Marines to look like complete clowns, too.
