General & Others The traitor subplot is boring and unnecessary

#81
i don't need to do shit to you, this is not a pissing contest. It was obvious it was a vegapunk and greed and evil fit the bill.I havent posted much on these discussions these days.
The fact that it was not completely farfetched but shows that even a genious can make mistake and feel too prideful is quite acceptable to me.
IT was not even a prolonged subplot, it was completely sufficient to setup the arc and mix up the deck.
If you guys expect a tweeeest every few chapters and keep building yourself up, you have none to blame except yourself. Oda has always written a simple manga.
And again, teh fact that it was ""obvious"" like you say it's not intrinsically bad.

To be honest, Wrath could also be a traitor, if we go with "evil" traits... Personally, I didn't give too much thought to who can be a traitor because for me the whole traitor set-up felt unnecessary and uninteresting. C'mon, we just had Kanjuro, before that there was Pudding, is it a requirement now for every arc to have a traitor or what?

Also, I don't really care about Vegapunk android satellites, we could have fewer of them and the story wouldn't lose anything. At the same time Egghead is a first arc after TS that I enjoy as much as I did with pre-TS arcs, so if this is the only thing I don't like, so be it :)

People just want the fights these days (guilty), we need to see some plot progression before the payoffs. Egghead haven’t even reached 20 chapters.
To be honest, I would really love to see old Vegapunk and Franky interact, I don't even need fights so badly, I like that Vegapunk got some of Void century uncovered and I'd also want him to be able to share that!

I would find it more interesting, if WG was simply spying on VP labs (which is in-character for them anyways) instead of a traitor plot.

I still like this arc a lot, it has a fun vibe, and I'm glad the traitor was disclosed relatively fast.

I think, that Stussy is still going to betray them. Alone her informing Sentomaru that Kizaru was on his way, war a blatant distortion of facts. Kizaru is not coming to Egghead - Saturn is and is accompanied by Kizaru! That little detail is - especially for Sentomaru - important to know, because he is commanding the Pacifistas, who are guarding the coast at the moment. In other words: He is fortifying their defense throughout the island.
Kizaru could not take command of those Pacifistas, even if he wanted, because he is not listed in the command hierarchy. Saturn on the other hand easily thrumps Sentomarus hirarchy. That means that with the exposition of the Pacifista at the coast, Saturn only needs to arrive and command them however he pleases.

If Stussy had told Sentoaru that Saturn was to arrive, he probably would have not let the Pacifistas stand guard there at the coast, because he would have taken into account that exact same aspect.

I dont think those pacifista are created to be commanded by anyone else.

only the seraphim are.

Stussy being a traitor was already poorly executed with many loose threads, but this new traitor reveal is so disconnected and just random af.

Honestly, who gives af about
York

This double traitor bs has really sank my expectation for this arc. Kizaru is the only hope I have for it to not be complete and utter trash.

Also, the damned randomness of characters just getting lost and chasing each other around is a real pain in the butt. It's beginning to remind me of Scooby Doo Chase scenes

Sorry to say it, but I think Oda needs to take a break and get these storylines together. He can do way better than this.

Good point. The reason I think it is different, is that in chapter 1069 Stussy stated that the command hirarchy for the "Pacifistas" is: authority chip - Sentomaru - Vegapunk - Gorosei

And it still leaves the point of Stussy omitting Saturn, who is one of the most important antagonists this arc.

In my opinion, there is still so much going on behind the curtain that we don't know, yet.

Does Stussy even know that Saturn is coming? I don't think it is indicated any where that she has knowledge of that. I know that CP0 takes their orders from the Gorosei but that doesn't mean that they know every thing. If she does know of course she has some explaining to do.

I do agree though that their is a lot in this arc that is being kept from us. And considering that some of it might relate to the one piece and the final war of the series I suspect we aren't going to get all the answers that we want.
