- Imu is looking for Vivi, maybe as another host. Her bloodline could hold some potential to this connection.
- With current Gorosei/Gunko Imu can only remotely take control of the situation. But to descend down himself, he needs a proper host.
I assume this body is the Host for now, and is close to death or expiry. Which is why he is looking for a new host, Vivi/Gunko. Gunko probably failed in some manner. As manmayer said, "She could potentially" awaken that power/Eye. Means heterochromia itself isn't the power.
She may or may not awaken it. And she didn't.
This current body is old and may even get destroyed this arc. But he will somehow get a new body or Capture Vivi.
As Mihawk/Imu connection.
I feel like this body is of Nerona descendent only or some other royal lineage line which has connections with Mihawk.
Imu is an entity as old as 800 yesrs ago or more. And Mihawk is just 43 year old as of now.
Another reason why this is just a host body.
The abyssmal mark, it absolutely makes no sense for Imu to use marks, he should have direct access to all these powers without a mark.
This is basically orochimaru 2.0 his cursed mark is given to two kinds, Those close to him or A host for Orochimaru himself.
Orochimaru himself doesn't brand himself with cursed mark, he already has senjutsu and mastered at that.
Same is the case with Imu, he can use Maki and stuff but he doesn't need to brand himself with Mark to use his own power. He already has Maki in his arsenal.
- None of the flashback between Imu and Joyboy, he doesn't have this form, but the (Silhouted) Parrot form.
- So far Imu has been covering the left eye.
