I am extremely worried for the future for Steam once Gaben dies.
Steam settings already have an option relating to streaming games, so I wouldn't be surprised if they try to mimic Xbox Pass Ultimate's Cloud Gaming or pick up where Stadia failed or w/e in future. All it needs is an idiot to take over after Gaben is gone and to push for this with no sense of irony/common sense/awareness and thus history of how this shit completely failed a few times in the past.
The success of Game Pass is also going to encourage not owning games, even more than Steam has. Its all gonna be digital renting/subscriptions and streaming in future.
It's especially bad for sports fans because unless you keep cable, it is basically the only way you'll get to watch the teams you actually care about. And even then, some games are still cable exclusive.

Oh yeah thats absolutely true! Sports fans have been getting milked for absolutely yeasr and to the high heavens! Thats brutal....
I remember one of my friends complaining about having to pay a lot for extra channels to watch sports as he supports certain teams and loves watching certain sports too.

You need like 4 to watch all the major sports most people care about which includes ESPN+ which is very niche and meh. It's good if you're into not televised college sports (especially D2 games), hockey and UFC. And it's just meh everywhere else. Still need a cable plan to watch the goods though. And Youtube TV and Hulu live TV keep upping the prices making pulling the cable plug borderline redundant.
