Character Discussion Time vindicated Doflamingo.

#1
For years, Doflamingo was mocked for how terrified he was of Kaidou. Just hearing Kaidou’s name was enough to make him sweat and tremble. But the story eventually proved that, during Dressrosa, Kaidou truly was the most terrifying thing in the world from Doflamingo’s perspective.

He never once dared to put Kaidou on the same pedestal as an Admiral. This is a man who was terrified by the mere mention of Kaidou’s name, yet had no problem completely ignoring an Admiral and even tried to kill his best friend Smoker right in front of him.

And he didn’t care in the slightest when it came to confronting Fujitora either.

However, Doffy is an intelligent man who knows his own limits. Even so, after using Marine Admiral Fujitora to his advantage, the moment Fujitora stopped being useful to him, Doffy straight-up said he would eliminate him. Yes, you read that right. He was talking about KILLING Fujitora, a Marine Admiral.
He even went as far as mocking Fujitora.
But when you compare all of Doffy’s interactions with other “top tiers” to his reaction to Kaidou and the insane level of fear he had of him, the difference becomes obvious. Doffy treats Kaidou like an anomaly, someone on a completely different level from mere Marine Admirals, people he clearly shows absolutely no fear toward.

Now, here is something that does not get brought up nearly enough in powerscaling discussions. Doflamingo was willing to go through all kinds of trouble just to avoid ever having to fight Kaidou, yet at the same time he was perfectly willing to talk about killing Fujitora and he was willing to turn his back on Kuzan, completely ignore him, and try to kill his “friend” right in front of his eyes.

So it really makes you wonder, was Doflamingo somehow clueless when it came to judging strength? @Veku
But why was Doflamingo ultimately vindicated? Simple. Because everyone fears Kaidou. Admirals, top tiers, it doesn’t matter. Kaidou was portrayed as the kind of monster whose name alone carried weight across the entire world.

Oden, who was on the level of prime Roger and Whitebeard, already considered Kaidou a terrifying pirate even 20 years ago. And we’re talking about an absolute freak of nature in Oden, a monstrous samurai who Kaidou himself said we would never see the likes of again.

And we’re talking about the man who wielded the greatest and most powerful sword style of the old pirate era. Oden Nitoryu stands at the very top, the greatest sword style that era ever produced. Above Roger’s, Rayleigh’s, and anyone else who relied on a sword style. @nik87

It was repeatedly stated that Wano’s enemies stayed away from the country because of Kaidou’s presence. Kin’emon is someone who carries an almost unimaginable amount of hatred toward Kaidou and everything he did. This is a man who saw his master killed, his people crushed, and his entire country driven into misery because of Kaidou. So for someone like Kin’emon to openly admit this is absolutely insane.

With Marine Admiral Green Bull saying the exact same thing and even using himself as the example. If Kaidou had still been in Wano, Green Bull would never have gone there in the first place. Kaidou’s mere presence was enough to keep him away from the country.
What kind of image did Kaidou project to the world? That of a feared and terrifying monster. We can even see it in the way Emperor Blackbeard, Aokiji’s own captain, views Kaidou:
Gaban straight-up talked about wanting to return to Wano again simply because Kaidou was no longer there.
Five “immortal” beings were afraid of provoking Kaidou.

And Whitebeard in his prime, who was equal to Roger, if not individually stronger, together with all of his military power, simply did not want a war with Kaidou after Kaidou killed his brother Oden. According to his right-hand man Marco, a fight between Prime Whitebeard, who was Pirate King level, and Kaidou would result in so many deaths, and he even wondered, “Can you imagine what could happen?” They would be fighting a war where victory was not guaranteed.

Something that ended up becoming a contradiction in Whitebeard’s character. He was willing to face the entire Marines and the World Government without caring whether Ace was alive or not, according to Garp, but he backed down and used the excuse of “casualties” and “what could happen” when it came to Oden.
We are looking at the man, the creature, who has the greatest portrayal among all top tiers.
An anomaly and a freak of nature since childhood, to the point that even Big Mom had no words to describe him, simply referring to him as “that thing.”
In the Ace novel, it is stated what angers each Emperor the most according to the World Government, and when it comes to Kaidou, his very existence itself terrifies humanity.

For someone like Hawkins and Apoo, Kaidou and the Emperors are monsters that logic simply does not apply to.

Kaidou was someone whose strength was so overwhelming that, as Oden himself said, if he could not defeat Kaidou, there would be no one capable of doing it for a long time. Only 20 years later, when new pirates emerged in the New World, would they be the ones capable of bringing Kaidou down, meaning Joy Boy together with the pirates.
Basically, the world had to wait for someone to be born who, together with others, would finally be capable of defeating Kaidou.

Ladies and gentlemen, the supreme Kaidou.

So strong that Oda uses him as the ultimate benchmark of strength in the entire series.
“Even than Kaidou.”
Now, with top tiers fearing Kaidou, the Admirals, even the World Government, and Whitebeard along with all of his military power, it becomes pretty easy to say that Doffy does not deserve to carry that blame alone. @sanjikun @comrade

Definitely not another "Kaido top 1" thread in disguise
You didn't answer: is Doffy a terrible powerscaler for thinking he could kill Fujitora?
And what about the difference in how he treats Kaido compared to Kuzan and Fujitora?
You're someone who questioned Kaido's opinion about the "five people capable of fighting him." But Doffy, your favorite character, scales Kaido above Kuzan and Fujitora.

Why wouldn't Doflamingo be terrified of Kaido? He's basically Kaido's underboss, if he fucks up then Kaido descends and rapes him

Why would he be scared of Fujitora when Fujitora works for the WG and Doffy can use his Celestial Dragon & Warlord status to get them off his back?

But who cares about that anyway? Kaido is ass, the kid who beat Kaido is getting saved and outdone by an injured old legend

It was reestablished that Yonko means nothing to Pirate King and Luffy still has a ways to go

"World's Strongest Creature" in 2026? We good?

Kaido is forever capped at Wano Luffy

Doflamingo had different reaction to Kaidou compared to other top tiers (especially another yonko) because he's a slimey coward. He could laugh and smile at the strength of Whitebeard because he knew he had no intention of ever getting involved with him, but the second a yonko is breathing down his neck expecting results he shits his pants.

This is further proven when Mihawk drew his sword at MF and doflamingo was surprised and asked Mihawk if he was really gonna fight, Because Doffy couldn't fathom willingly attacking or challenging a Yonko.

He didn't want smoke with Aokiji after getting a taste of his power. And bended to Aokiji's will, you are smoking something else if you think Aokiji couldn't have the same boss to underling relationship with Doffy that Kaido had with him, if Aokiji was inclined.

Aokiji could have beat the shit out of doffy, traumatised him and asked him to do something, and the second that thing was threatened he'd remember Aokiji and get chills.

Doffy isn't brave, he's an idiot who is used to getting his way, he genuinely thought he could finish smoker before aokiji could stop him, then realised he severely underestimated the former admiral and changed his mind.

All facts but I don't know who you're arguing with. Who clowned Doflamingo for fearing Kaido?
Absolutely everyone during the Dressrosa and WCI arcs kept playing that card.
Tell me, how bad would Oda’s writing have to be for him to simply kill the hype surrounding the main antagonist of an entire saga by making him nothing more and nothing less than a hype tool for Kaido?

That’s exactly what people didn’t like. Whether you like it or not, Doffy was basically being used to build up and promote the true main and ultimate antagonist of the post-timeskip : Kaido.

Sure, even though that makes people lose a lot of their excitement for Doffy because now they know that Doffy, the main antagonist, is basically nothing compared to Kaido, it also reinforces just how insane Kaido really is.
Still, I honestly don’t agree with that kind of writing.

Doffy was terrified of making Kaido into his enemy while at the same time putting all his chips on Kaido to do what he wanted to do himself - destroy the world that CDs ruled over.
As one of the very few who knew of Imu's existence, Doffy was betting on Kaido.
You basically cracked it, Nik-chin. Doffy bet everything on Kaido. He was his ally.
This man was willing to give up everything, his status, his titles, even try to kill Admirals, just because he never wanted to end up face to face with Kaido. Because Doffy, just like everyone else in the verse, knows that Kaido is simply different from the rest.

Doffy title thread

Looks inside

fullblown Kaido dick sucking
There is no way to prove that Doffy is unfairly judged for simply being afraid of Kaido without pointing out how insane Kaido’s portrayal is in the verse and how people view him. You can’t make that argument without showing panels of characters who are even stronger than Doffy and are also afraid of Kaido.
