Oda does things like that, he emailed all Luffybois and told them that Luffy was the new Ryuma and that he was the rubber Oden and also the monster Samurai that Kaido was waiting for but then the arc ends and Luffy has nothing to do with Ryuma or Oden and Zoro is the one compared with Ryuma and carrying Oden's legacy and in the anime Kaido sees Oden in Zoro, I reckon that there's no chance that the same thing happens with Luffy but who knows.

Luffy doesn’t need to be the new Ryuma nor Oden. Luffy is the guy who is carrying the whole hopes of Wano samurai on his back and that’s enough. He is the one who united the samurai. Zoro was never compared to Oden in any way the only link between the two is enma. Luffy always takes down the strongest villain of an arc and it will not change now.
It is significant, however, remember at the end of the day Odens goal was not killing Kaido, he just saw that as a means to it.
His goal is to keep wano free. Oden even put his faith in joyboy to defeat Kaido. That’s why Zoro fighting the wg while luffy defeats Kaido is the best way to do this as it accomplishes everyone’s goals.
