Episode Discussion Toei's animation is insanely good, its fantastic but really not my taste

Only a few episodes deserved that budget.

- Roger vs Whitebeard
- Warlord Abolishment
- raid start
- rooftop
- 1062 zoro vs King (except for this rest were mediocre)
- Gear 5 Introduction (only introduction)
- Law vs BB was nicely adapted
- Shanks vs Kidd was good
- S-Hawk mini scene
- Zoro Cutting Warm current eddy

Which I didn't like are
- Sanji vs Queen (Sanji vs Jabra years ago but still felt good)
- law and kidd vs Bigmam (Too much color)
- Luffy vs Kaidou rooftop (over use of aura)
- garp Galaxy Impact
- Yamato Vs Kaidou
- aramaki vs Scabbards
- Luffy vs Lucci was decent but not near above mentioned episodes.

- aramaki vs Scabbards
Aramaki vs Scabbards in his base form was some good fucking food, things started to crash and burn tho when he went into his tree form

Which in theory should be very easy to animate since Oda opted for a very undetailed and generic look for Aramaki's giant form, yet somehow we literally got Toei sound asleep and missing frames, for example when he's charging and attacks the Scabbards, as well as the sequence when Yamato strikes him. You can quite literally count the frames lmao

I would have preferred the kind the animation we got from the intro. That looked cold and sick.

I understand the criticism of the anime going pretty extra with flashiness in terms of color, auras etc. This isn’t a new conversation.

But it does fit present day One Piece and new animators are also given more creative freedom. Seems to me like the majority of the anime fanbase enjoys it so…sometimes WG treats its opinions as fact, when in reality we are a niche and yes sometimes complaining too much.

I think the anime should try for this instead of adding 1000 flashy, blinding colours to otherwise good animations
Kakashi vs obito, Naruto vs sasuke final valley
Naruto vs isshiki etc etc
Right amount of flashy things and right amount of small moves that add value to the last big hit that will land.

HELL, few episodes ago S hawk vs zoro was perfect.

the fights lately have been cooking it’s like each animation style depends on those fighting like w shanks more serious toned n luffy more free n colorful animation can’t wait for luffy vs kizaru later on

I really dislike the shit they do of changing the art style from scene to scene.

Also, look at Garp in the last episodes, he looked like a DBZ character, it's nonsense to the story

Personally, I hate the "squiggly" weird artstyle/animation that OP lately has. Give me the old clean art and animation!!
Oh, and screw every rubble exploding into cubes lmao.
This is one of the reasons why I can't stand Naotoshi Shida. His animation is so full of itself that, for example, one punch that should be straight, quick and clean becomes, as you well said, a squiggly, boneless concatenation of unnecessary detours.

Two examples:

Almost feels like they are dancing instead of attacking, and I feel like it's becoming more common in recent years.

Yeah Toei is a bit overstyling. But the smeary movements are peak, they are art.

I prefer more decent animations, tho I also noticed with anime like Oshi no Ko that they tend to go overboard with effects.

I just assume there is a meta to it atm, I am glad anime like Kaiju no. 8 or Frieren did not look like that.

The best animations are still going to slice of life genre I guess. Sadly you can't find their methods in shounen anime.

Ripepperony.

Some scenes are really good, others are just bs.

The destruction of Lulusia was perfect imho.

Many of the fighting scenes are way over the top though (at least in my opinion).

Way too many colors, weird artstyle choices, way too many cuts and some weird aura stuff that better suits DBZ than OP.
Heck, I could hardly see what was going on in many of those recent fights.

Sometimes less is more.

Seems to me like the majority of the anime fanbase enjoys it so…sometimes WG treats its opinions as fact, when in reality we are a niche and yes sometimes complaining too much.
Not sure about that tbh.

Sure, a lot of OP fans on reddit etc. SAY that they enjoy it, but do they actually enjoy it deep down?

Reminds me when I was a kid/teen and came out of the cinema having just watched Pirates of the Carribean 3.

Heck, I immediately knew it couldn't hold a candle to the previous two movies, but I told everyone how great it was just because I was such a huge Pirates of the Carribean fan and was too immature to accept reality.

That's how most of the OP fandom on reddit etc. works, too.

I'm not sure about why people continually draw comparisons to DBZ.

The influence for that scene comes from shows like JJK and animators from shows like Naruto.

In some instances, you can literally directly spot the scene they are referencing from those series.
