Character Discussion Toki’s character?

#1
I like Toki’s design but lord she is a waste of character. I really hate that one of the few characters from the void century that we know about literally came into the old pirate era timeline only to have kids and just basically die. She wasn’t even all that important to the story either, she didn’t seem to help on Oden’s journey with Whitebeard or Roger. She was literally just a plot device for the scabbards to stay young and for the speech she gave. You would think she would have some strength’s to her considering she is from a place 800 years ago but no. If you replaced Toki with some random women from Wano it would be just the same.

my bet is that she'll loredump through flashbacks. she may have helped roger get some leads about where to go in order to learn more about the void century/laugh tale. Oda is simply being a tease as he always does with silhouettes for example

We’ll probably get more lore on her if there’s a Void Century flashback, but I want the lore now

That's Lolda's way of writing female characters. His ideal woman is a loyal wife that bears children and wipes her manchild of a husband's butt.
His wife probably the same.:lawsigh:

I really don't see any problem in Toki. She was a very pretty and charming wife.

In terms of action, at least she made some children, so she's better than Nami and Robin as a woman.
It's simply not true that she didn't help on Oden's journey; There's much more than just fighting that you can do to help other people, such as providing warm hugs, smiles, and kind words.

She also did a good job at least in Hiyori's education.

Not to mention that it was with her power that Momonosuke and those 4 Akazaya were sent into the future. And the way how she died was very meaningful, inspiring people and causing terror on Orochi with her last words.

And who cares about the void century anyway? Everything that matters about what happened during the time has pretty much already been totally revealed in Robin's flashback and Doflamingo's explanation about the tenryuubito's.

Oda knows quite well how to write female characters, generally speaking;
Just in Yamato's case he seems to have dropped the ball.

I wish we at least knew more about her flabbergasting DF :josad:

The mystery still leaves me in awe and astonishment.

But at least we acknowledged how she died although it was the classic standard way, nothing too fancy.
