Character Discussion Top 5 worst written characters

Dudes here are literally making up headcanon and then calling us crazy for expecting more. “Spoon feeding” LMAO

Like do yourselves a favor and read Doffy’s backstory. Not even include Law, just the portion that’s dedicated to him. It’s only like 5 pages long but it tells us a lot about him

It’s almost as if he’s trash and not memorable outside of battle scenes
Both of us read the same thing and came to the exact same conclusion, I wonder why that is?

momonosuke
shanks (might change tho)
dragon
garp
king

laido serves as a very realistic representation of an alcoholic plagued by very modest intelligence so i think he's not a contender.

Because you’re oddly tied to Kaido? Idk what to tell you I can’t read your mind

Again, I literally spoke to a Kaido fan to make sure I wasn’t being too harsh and they agreed, then proceed to tell me how him and wano was viewed in the community outside of worstgen. It’s not favorably

When you have to make up headcanon stuff to convince yourself or others that Kaido was a good written character, that is when you know how badly written Kaido was.

My guy, is not only Worstgen. he’s not popular, YouTubers hate him and apparently he’s also not liked in the east either.

you can’t appeal to this mythical majority and show 0 proof. If anything I have more evidence that he’s mid

The popularity poll was during Wano?
This is true, Kaido is not popular even outside of Worstgen, I've seen some One Piece Youtubers that also heavily criticized Kaido.

You can’t say 99% of people think Kaido has depth and then disregard popular opinion

Like at least be consistent
Most people like Kaido, I'm not saying most people have Kaido as their favorite character and that's fine, do you think polls are an objective way of determining which character is better than the other considering Carrot ended up in the top 8 just because she's a cute bunny?

Saying Kaido doesn't have any depth is just blatant lies, I fully expected him to be just a generic juggernaut with no honor, yet he surprised me by being a more developed character than anyone could've expected.

So if tens of thousands of people read the same chapter and end up with the same conclusion that means it's just random headcanon imagined by Kaido stans?

I literally caught a guy making shit up about his backstory, shit that contradicts the story

Like, if you like Kaido that’s fine but you have to own up to the fact that most people don’t think he’s well written.

Out of millions of fans? That’s like not even 1%

you keep pointing to the mythical Kaido fan who thinks he’s well written, when again I keep pointing out that even outside of this community there’s heavy critique for him. If you want to think of yourself as some intellectual because you understand something most of us don’t by all means go ahead. Just don’t pretend like you’re in the majority

Sometimes I'm shocked that people genuinely love Doffy considering he's far more complex than Kaido and they can't even handle Kaido's character somehow
Like given how Kaido is treated you'd think they'd have an even harder time understanding more deep villains from this series
Doffy speaks to people for some reason.

The thing is, it's fair to say that Doffy is the more complex character with a longer backstory, but that was expected, from the moment he was introduced everyone expected a trickster such as him to have an interesting backstory.

Kaido on the other hand was infamous only because of his fighting power, most people expected him to be just a simple minded juggernaut without any complexity, surprisingly enough that wasn't at all what he is, unexpectedly he got more depth than most people anticipated and that works well for a character like Kaido.

Is Doffy all that complex? He’s literally just a born evil character with a god complex?
He is fairly complex and has a detailed backstory, but is definitely overrated, he didn't do anything groundbreaking in terms of character development or backstory, I have no clue why he's the best OP villain for so many people.

I don’t know why people praise him as the best. Croc and Enel both clear him. Enel does the same character arc as Doffy just better imo

Crocodile also has more aura points, Doffy only looks badass when fighting a character he knows he can beat easily.
Croc has zero backstory chapters but is easily a top 3 OP villain because how oda wrote him in the present. Having the Alabasta royal guard drink a suicide drink to grow stronger to fight him then for croc to just avoid the fight cause it’s more fun to watch them die in vain is fucking peak villainy.

Doffy is easily better written than Enel LMAO. Enel is cool but he’s pretty shallow as well

Croc is a toss up I don’t even care to argue. The difference in aura is because Oda went with a different storytelling structure with Croc. Where Croc was always one step ahead of the good guys, Doffy started the arc with his back against the wall, and has to scramble to get back in control

It shouldn’t be hard to understand why people love Doflamingo more than Kaido.
Doffy is not an inconsistent mess like the fish. It’s as simple as that. He may not be as complex as some fans try to act like he is, but he’s entertaining and remains the driving force of the arc he’s featured in.

Kaido besides being a mess was also a backseat driver for most of Wano. He spends most of the time reacting to his co-villains taking the initiative.
Besides being strong he just doesn’t have much else to offer that’s of interest.
