Character Discussion Top 5 worst written characters

Doffy is easily better written than Enel LMAO. Enel is cool but he’s pretty shallow as well

Croc is a toss up I don’t even care to argue. The difference in aura is because Oda went with a different storytelling structure with Croc. Where Croc was always one step ahead of the good guys, Doffy started the arc with his back against the wall, and has to scramble to get back in control
Both are very shallow. I just think between the two Enel did the same character trope better because he legit felt more like a god on earth.

Doffy is not shallow, he actually brings up an interesting argument about nurture vs nature that im pretty sure Oda will bring back up with S Flamingo
Doffy was straight up stated to be born evil multiple times. I don’t think you can say there’s any argument at all. Doffy was just born an evil monster with a god complex.

By Corazon, who could be proven wrong.

I mean it is literally stayed multiple times that Law and Doffy are the same type of people and we know Law was able to be saved

Crocodile also has more aura points, Doffy only looks badass when fighting a character he knows he can beat easily.
To be fair that's the whole point of Doffy's character. He's extremely controlling and cunning which is why he has a fruit based around controlling people like puppets.
He has DOG SHIT physical stats and Haki. Like, they're ABYSMAL. But that's made up with his fruit.
The point is that he's not all that on his own, but he's got ways to manipulate people and bend them to his will, even if they're strong enough to neg diff him in an instant. That's how he became a Warlord after all, he bribed the government into making him one in exchange for him not leaking the secret of Mariejois (which I headcanon is the grimoire that Imu possesses).

He was talking about Laws desire to destroy the world. Cora knew Doffy more than anyone. You’re trying to add context to deepen a character oda didn’t write like that. Doffy was stated by the person who literally grew up side by side with him that Dofi was always born evil. There was no nurture changing that, he’s an innately evil individual.

He was talking about Law as a person overall, literally read the second page I posted.

I used to think it was black and white until the seraphim where introduced and revealed to have the same personality as their clones. Then I re read dressrosa and again the only guy who said he was born evil was Corazon who had a grudge to begin with. He’s in no way infallible, and I think you’re selling Oda short if you don’t think he’ll follow up on the nature vs nurture with S-Flamingo

Flashback characters aren’t mean to be perfect

Again corazon knew Doffy better than any other person on earth. And for All we know S flamingo won’t even have any notable role.

Again you’re adding context in hopes of deepening the character as Doffy stands he’s a very shallow character.

I think Roger is quite badly written to be honest... so far at least.

He's just a horribly inconsistent character and Oda just relies on mystery to make him interesting. The more we find out about him, the less interesting I find him. He's either highly intelligent or incredibly stupid whenever whenever the plot calls for it. He's supposed to be some badass fighter, but the only major victory we even know of is against rocks which seemed like a hollow victory because he had to team up with Garp to do it. He was saved from Shiki by sheer dumb luck. He's supposed to be brave and always ready for a fight, but seemed to lose this energy when stealing Big Mom/Kaido's poneglyphs.

Oda has everyone sucking him off for practically no reason; even his enemies seem to love him so much that Shiki invaded marineford solo which is just fucking ridiculous.

His entire pathway to becoming pirate king was shaped through luck and cowardice, but then somehow Oda has him turn around and step up to prime whitebeard just for fun. He seemed to like children, but too bad he didn't think about all the kids that would die when he announced one piece was real. As I say, it's inconsistent.

Maybe I don’t think Oda is a shit writer who discards characters lol. Just like S-Hancocks personality played a role I don’t doubt the rest will as well

“You and me, are birds of the feather”

I am not adding context, you’re literally ignoring what Oda wrote after the flashback

This is mostly fair but I don't get the Shiki complaint lol
It's really the same as Kaido trying to raid Marineford with King to settle the score with Whitebeard

Oda is a writer who does that. Did everyone forget about the level 6 prisoners BB freed?
You mean the no named characters?

you’re seriously comparing no named off screen characters to established one?

you might as well complaint about the rando underworld cameo characters

wasn't s flamingo mauled by crocodile on emtee bluff or whatever it's called
No, people assume he was sent there but the orders to deploy the sera were before they mentioned Croc. For all we know they were sent to quell a rebellion instead

I doubt oda would off screen Croc fighting his amped up clone

S flamingo is not named. That’s a fandom name?

That’s also wrong. The seraphim were deployed after croc was mentioned. The anime changed it

But they’re shown on screen, hence established.

The lvl 6 prisoners who escaped were all nebulous, just abstract. I personally never cared for any of them because oda himself didn’t. Their role was served, they existed to show Sengoku’s rift with the WG and eventually split. If we were shown actual prisoners who escaped with distinct design then you’d have a point

ZenZu

The only one who can beat me is me
Oden

Kaidou
Yamato

Vegapunk

Can't think of a 5th that is clear cut, the 4 above are clear cut to me. Shanks and Sabo might be competing for that 5th spot, but they can potentially recover, Shanks moreso than Sabo.

You’re just wrong, anime isn’t canon

Fair enough I thought it was reversed, I must’ve read a scan that swapped them.

But still until oda actually does something with these three I dont see them any different from Bogard.

If Oda actually does develop flamingo like you want then you can argue Doffy is a deep character. But as of now, dudes just as shallow as Enel.
