Character Discussion Understanding why Ace hates Roger

#1
This is what i think. I think Ace didnt exactly hated roger at first but everytime ace talks about roger to other people he probably end up believing that he was evil ace thought roger became a pirate king because he was evil and he doesnt wanna be like him. Take note that preety much that ace was asking this people 99% of them didnt even saw or met roger.

what im about to say is probably what you guys saw on luffy and to sabo that probably they inheritate this from ace.
They inherit traits Like helping people without asking for anything, how to live free luffy took this traits from ace like he saw ace as a example of being a great pirate.

what your thoughts about this? Shanks probably thought luffy about friendship but being a great man he learned it from ace and sabo and luffy did the same thing what ace does.

He hates him because everyone around the world think that his dad was evil and because of that he thinks that too. He feels like he should not have been born as he's a 'seed' of evil. He thinks that everyone will hates him will hate him because of that. That is until he meets Luffy, Sabo and finally, Whitebeard. The first 2 accept him as their brother and the latter, as his 'son'. He still hates himself but a little less and now wants to make WB the Pirate King. Though, he still thinks that Roger is evil.

Parental Abandonment + his mother dying to give birth to him + people thanking the fact that the "Roger" lineage was over, so basically hearing people say the world would be a better place if Ace didn't exist + etc.

All these things thrown at a small kid.
I totally understand why Ace would hate Roger. :P

I think it was more about the hateful towards being alive. he blamed roger, the one who was the most wanted person just decided to have a child, in addition to that he wasn't there for him. because he was one of the most hated person, it's kinda logical that people also hate his heir and ace realized that indirectly from his surounding. just think about it, if roger knows that, he shouldn't have had a child because he knows that the child will suffer, and the child also didn't ask for its soul to live. you know that in real life, many people has a grudge such as "why did I have to be in this world? why are my parents give birth to me?" because parents are responsible for any soul that they bring to this world, if they can't take it they shouldn't let it happen.

try watching Capernaum, a 2018 film that was told from a child's perspective that suffer because of his parents and he legally sues his parents for giving birth to him.

He explained that thoroughly. That he was simply mad at him for having brought him to life despite knowing what he could have potentially gone through. No matter how much he might have hid which happened not to be part of him nevertheless.

I understood it like he didnt hated Roger as Person himself, more as status. Its like, everything Ace can ever do, will ever accomplish, he will always get recognized as "Rogers Son", not as "Ace". Its like giving him some fate at letting him alone with it from beginn with. Like thrown in a world, the destiny to get hated and still left alone. For sure he must have felt like he shouldnt get born. But then he found people which dont cared about Roger as his father at all.

i myself cant understand ace character but i dont think he really care if he was roger’s son or not. But i do think that ace hated roger on how people saw roger. Thats why i think that ace doesnt wanna be like him but without him realizing it that he really is kinda like roger and those thing we see on how sabo and luffy live their lives its because of ace. They saw this things to ace how he lives his life as a pirate that helps people etc etc for example

I totally understand ace's perspective
Roger is selfish it's simple as that
Brought a child to a world full of suffering
I'm really happy ace met whitebeard
He somewhat felt a father figure warmth 😢😢

no he wasnt selfish, roger knew that the world goverment will try to find him. He lives his life as the freest man in the world before and after he found the onepiece. Roger probably didnt expected to fall in love, and had a child. Even though he was dying he entrusted his child to garp and look what ace become. I dont think roger was selfish he just fell in love i mean would you consider yourself free if you ignored the call of love?

Yeah well
Roger can be the world freest man on his own just don't go around and make other people lives miserable because just you wanted a son
I feel really bad for rouge cuz she fell for that man
She could've had any man in this world.
Oh and if I loved someone I wouldn't want them to get hurt that's way it's called love and not lust
Senior pink is 1million times better than roger in the love department

thats probably the only one roger regretted through out his life, not protecting his wife and his child with all the power he had. This is what i think, i think roger did the right thing letting garp handle ace, you know why? If rouge left 5 and she didnt waited for 15 months the world goverment will easily find her. Lets say roger asked reyleigh, rouge gave ace to reyleigh, the world goverment will find it out since she left the island. Ace would have a misserable life because the world goverment would do anything to find ace. asking garp is the only way i mean who knows if roger really surrendered out of nothing what if its because of rouge and ace.

I'm not talking about garp he is in another dimension in my mind his logic is just wow 😲
Give a child to a mountain bandits for the child to be a navy soldier just wow.
And if roger gave ace to Rayleigh it would've been better cuz if my memory serves me right I remember after fisher tiger stormed and set the slaves free boa and the sisters with gloseria went to Rayleigh and that went fine the government couldn't find them
And let's be real it was prime Rayleigh so the government would think twice before going on a fight with him.
so they will cover that story of roger having a child
