I don't think it will regenerate (unless you have proof otherwise), and if it won't regenerate then cutting couple strings will be much more usefull than pushing it.

I doubt he would have it since he's Zoro's final goal and must have the same weapons at hands for a fair fight. I also tend to believe that a good swordsman fight must only include swords and ones hands and legs.
