Well it would be a good choice. The manga is ending in a few years and introducing new nakama right before the final war wouldn't let us get to know their interactions with the crew properly as well as make them synergistically good with it.
This arc has already too many supernovas and the only with a good amount of panel time was Hawkins so i think Oda will reserve the Mad Monk as well as Bonney for later arcs.
