Although there is a time and place for an intelligent-based analysis on biology and what objectively makes someone trans and so on, I get the feeling that a scientific sort of approach isn’t really what Oda went for in regards to Kiku. I think by most people’s’ reckoning, Oda went for what they would consider akin to the Duck Test, in that:

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then you might as well call it a duck.

So by that sort of logic:

If Kiku looks like a woman, behaves like a woman, talks like a woman, and goes by the term woman, then you might as well call Kiku a woman.

I’m not really one needing to be given a complicated explanation in order to be convinced, as again, I know it’s not the same as a science-based analysis, but so be it.
