Why is Lord of the Rings looked at as peak fiction? It's alright tbh, nothing crazy. Lots of questionable decisions. At least in the movies.
Yeah imo the narrative in Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away is much more solid than LOTR movies despite the simplicity. Ender's Game Movie has more character development, and i think Inception is much stronger overall as a fantasy movie.
...the LOTR novels have super intricate details tho. Tolkien made his own Elf language, detailed lore and creatures etc. i think thats why Tolkien is respected, due to his details and dilligence but not his bigger picture or narrative.
