General & Others Warlord crew discussion : the Donquixote Pirates

#1
In this fourth thread the subject of discussion will be what is most likely the most powerful, famous and favorite pirate crew led by a warlord: the Donquixote Pirates, also called the Donquixote Family.

What do you think of them ? What do you like and/or dislike about them ? Do you find them to be interesting ? Who are your favorite members of the crew ?

Total mixed bag. Lots of members I like, and lots I don't care for. Just getting out of the way that I don't hate Trebol. He can be grating, but I got to respect his intentions. From day one, this guy had Doffy's best interest in mind. And he stood by him even when they had nothing, and were about to lose everything.

What I do like about the crew is its structure. This is probably the closest thing to a Yonko crew structure, with Doffy having immediate executives, and each executive leading their own group of officers. Their camaraderie is also cute to a degree. The panel of them all eating pizza together gets to me.

Ok, to members I like. Senor Pink, Baby 5, Lao G, Bellamy. Either they were incredibly funny like Lao G, or just well written in general like Senor Pink, I enjoyed these members for who they were.

I didn't care much for Gladius, Dellinger, Buffalo, the rest of the executives, Machviste, or even Viola, to name a few.
Viola it's for more reasons, but the others just didn't leave much of an impression for me, and were just clear hype tools for the various Strawhats or future Grandfleet members. And in that sense, they served their purpose, but I'd have liked for more.

Doffy and Corazon kind merit their own topic, since that's a lot to go over. I will say that I love Doffy as a villain, but was very disappointed in how his story concluded. And while Corazon was a bright spot for me during Law's flashback, his tragedy didn't resonate with me much.

But the crew's biggest downfall was just how nonthreatening they felt. I go over it a bit earlier, but the Donquixote Family consistently got trounced by various members of the heroes side. Even someone like Doffy needed a forced plot device to create tension for his defeat. It ruined my investment on the crew as villains.

They were a nice prototype of what we can expect future One Piece villains to be like, with their far greater numbers and connectivity, but I only hope the trappings created from them don't get repeated.

Trebol was a pretty good character a master marksman who was one of the reasons why Doffy was today. From gathering Dimante, Pica and Vergo to giving Doffy the tools he needs to helping Doffy and his empire
I like Diamante devil fruit and Vergo fighting style
Pica powers were pretty interesting
For the others I like that Dellinger was capable to defeat many NW fighters proving the Doffy pirates threat
Lao G was also a physical beast as well pretty strong but I feel he is above average for a new world fighter

I admire them much.
They're the alive proof that really there is crews around that really can rivalize with Straw Hat Crew.
My second favorite is Dellinger. I love how he's a hibrid of human and a fish species of One Piece World, and how he's a prodigy child, having been a crew member and fighter since a newborn. With he having becamed wanted by 15 millions with six years or less, and with sixteen, during the battle to defend his crew's empire, having defeated two famous martial arts fighters, far older than him and that weren't even humans without be serious,i can't imagine his potential when he escape of prison and back to pirate life.
My favorite is easily Monet. Her appeal, personality and remaining content made me fall in lover with her during Punk Hazard Arc. Despite the way she ended up,was gived many hints inside and outside the mangá that she's actually a good people in shadows,a very rich character and huge candidate to next Straw Hat Crew member. And as the theory that her Devil Fruit would reborn in Thousand Sunny's trees not happened,i still totally believing in all that.

This comment will sound weird

My First thoughts on Donquixote Family after the arc of Dressrosa just finished WAS BAD, I looked down on them. But as the manga kept going, and we got to explore different members from Yonko crew (Some Ministers from BMP, Veterans, as well as Sweet Commanders) while with Kaido (Some Headliners, Toppi Roppo headliner, and Calamity). And as we somewhat got some taste of those levels of fighters. I think my view on Doflamingo's crew changed. And hey I'm not saying that they are equal to any Yonko crew. I know they are not. But all I'm saying is that they are actually formidable crew, and they have their own weight to a point where I can actually see SOME of Doffy's crew, defeating some ministers, and even some veterans from Big Mom crew as an EXAMPLE. While, Doflamingo can contest with Top commanders in strength (people will vary in their opinion on him, putting him 3rd, or 2nd and some even put him 1st, while to me I consider him 2nd).

But anyway, as the story went on, I STARTED to appreciate them more, and I started to BELIEVE what Law suggested during his indirect plan on taking down Kaido. Which is that plotting "Doflamingo Family vs Beast Pirates" would result in Doffy getting annihilated, which was Law's goal. BUT ALSO, at the same time, Many Beast pirates members will suffer defeat, which is good for the alliance to get closer to Kaido instead of worrying about SO MANY of his forces. So, basically, they will lose some considerable numbers if they buttheads had Law's plan succeeded in making Doffy crew go against Kaido's crew. And that to me, makes me put some respect on their names!

As for my favorites, well let's see! They are in this order:

1- Vergo: My favorite among the 4 executives
2- Senor Pink: He's what One Piece is all about, your typical goofy looking character, but with deep layers to his character!
3- Dellinger: HONESTLY? He's that high because I want to smash him! LOOOOOOL
4- Diamante: He had funk, style, charisma, and something about his dance moves LOL. Quite the villain.
5- Gladius: Honestly, he was badass mofo
6- Lao G: He was funny as fuck
