This.

WB's BFR-ing Papazuki was actually a solid tactic in dealing with an unstoppable force like Akainu.

This tactic was also employed many times by comics all around the world. For example:

Spiderman vs Juggernaut

Saying WB defeated Akainu when Akainu was still able to solo WB's crew afterwards is super reaching.
Right. I think Akainu should have simply generated a magma wall under his feet before falling deep enough but I think that was not that easy and regardless it was Oda's will to have him focused on Luffy after recovering from the modest injuries.

The opening post here is a little random. Are we talking about WB vs Akainu? It's not really accurate to call a winner or loser as they both could fight after facing each other, but WB was getting some butt and I'd pick a pissed of Newgate if they did have a real fight.

Recently, the demand from uninformed people in this regard has increased and I need to stop this madness once and for all without further ado...
I strongly recommend you CLICK ON THE PICTURE to get a better view.
Smoker would logically need to get up because the whole place was about to fall apart and the poison gas would take over, LAW had a BIG MOTHER plot waiting for him, and the ZORO treatment, which couldn't wait.
KAIDO is famous for fighting to the exhaustion of his enemies:
So even if KAIDO defeats LAW like he defeated him, he will do anything to try to break his spirit, just like he did with the Kid for example, went to/putting in UDON to get his spirit broken, KAWAMATSU too, so KAIDO does what he can, even Luffy went to UDON, and KAIDO had a big grudge against him, and kaido didn't kill him, he first thought about breaking his spirit.
Do you want another example?
Kaido versus Retainers, note the position of DENJIROU and RAIZOU...
DENJIROU and RAIZOU are completely defeated, they are unable to fight for X minutes, even though they are conscious.
KAIDO: "are you satisfied yet?"
RAIZOU and DENJIROU were in completely different positions which means after the defeat (defeated once), they got up and fought again with KAIDO and were defeated again, KINEMON was still conscious, does that mean he wasn't defeated? No way. And this is similar to the case of AKAINU, akainu did the same thing as the retainers, Law, Smoker, he was defeated for x minutes, and after X (time) he managed to recover. Kaido didn't need to knock out the retainers until the end of the war to say he won, Vergo didn't need to knock out SMOKER until the end of the arc to prove he won, Kaido doesn't need to knock out LAW (although I think he did it temporarily) to say he won, kaido is famous for taking his opponents to wear and tear doing everything to break their spirits, he will simply beat you until you kneel down and submit, he won't kill you.

And it also confirms that kaido fought the 9 retainers 2x and not 1.
LOL, 18 people.

chapter 999
I don't even need to say much, if you've read this far you'll know just by comparing the photos.
That's game over for him.

OK ... I have to disagree

Old Sick Beard wasn't even close to the WSM title in reality

Akainu could've killed him

It was a cheap shot, then a huge attack. Akainu managed to fatally injury an old, sick, tricked Whitebeard but just fell down and did nothing for some minutes.

Alive only for plot armor, cause in that situation just couldn't defend himself anymore, he yelled at and cursed WB after being temporary defeated.

On the other hand, I don't know, even after all these years, how the fight would have gone if a WB not tricked and already injured and Akainu just fought alone, in a neutral field, like with Aokiji in Punk Hazard.

Luffy will be a major potential threat for the government in the future so it makes sense for Akainu to go after him. And Whitebeard is destined to die in Marineford anyway. If you know a kid that will grow up strong and will beat your ass in the future, won't you go after him first lol?
How does he know luffy has a bright future, if it is like that he should start killing every top tier children

Again, Whitebeard is on dead door so no point in going after him anymore. Akainu already learned that Luffy is a son of Dragon and a CoC user to it fits his ideal to go after weaklings first. That's his nature.
I'm not sure Akainu even acknowledged WB was dead whilst standing inside the ground but it doesn't matter much because he obviously was aiming for Luffy's guts even before he would fall into that ground. Shirohige was never a priority.

Uh...Whitebeard was the number 1 priority aside from not executing Ace. There's a reason Sengoku was constantly freaking out about him
