What Are You Currently Listening To

Yeah for real! They're very genuine, clean, smooth, chill and not trying too hard/overcompensating. Just pure heart/passion/soul or so.

Ahhh haha, maybe you just have an old soul? Like someone who has lived before or something if you believe in that? Or and you just have finer taste for things and can appreciate something regardless of how old it is or so?

Either way it's more impressive you enjoy such classic music like this despite being so young! The 80s was just such a golden era for music especially imo, although I wasn't born until 1990 and only just getting to know them now haha.

Bill Withers I've known about for a while, I used to do my own cover of Ain't No Sunshine for my former singing lessons and his voice is just golden buttery or honey smooth. Very relaxing, soulful and heartfelt, it just really takes you away and hits the soul directly.

Also this guy and song are absolutely classy/classic and legendary too!:

So chill, and so effective.

I don't know tbh, I always liked different types of music. Doesn't matter if it's old or not. I mean, it shouldn't rlly matter anyways. Both music genre and age of the song are only some letters to me. I could be easily listening "Going bad" just to switch up to "California love" while passing by some artists from my country like Killa Fonic, and at the end, a classic would wait for me lol. Literally the second song that I posted in this thread was this:

(it's probably older than myself lmao)

And yeah, "stand by me" is easily one of the best classic songs ever.

Oh man, You Spin Me Right Round and even Pete Burns the lead singer and Dead or Alve are so iconic, memeable and memorable haha!

Yeah same here, I never gravitated towards a specific genre, although I did fixate on rock/metal during my edgier phase form my much younger days naturally haha. But I also loved pop, dance, techno, house, RnB, hip hop, jazz, rap and such. Oh man exactly! That drastic contrast and completely different styles/genres/tones and such! That is such a mood haha!

That's a very wise and profound attitude anyway, I believe music is timeless and can even be '"borderless" or "universal" or something, it can appeal to anyone regardless of culture, language, location, race and so on. I've loved music from all around the world and all the different styles, instruments, vocals, cultural influences and stuff just make them so fascinating, endearing and enjoyable. I used to love watching Eurovision every year for that reason too.

Yeah definitely! Completely true about Stand By Me! I discovered it via The Lion King for the first time I believe and it's such a beautiful, profound song.

I started listening to you spin me right round for the memes and I ended up liking it a lot lol. I still lack some classic's knowledge tho.

Even know I'm leaning more towards rap/trap and hip hop. But that doesn't prevent me from enjoying other genres, I even listened to some Frankensteins like "Peeping tome". It feels great to be able to enjoy different genres of music from different times while being able to comment on all of them without any bias. Sometimes they basically fight each other but I simply can not abandon one.

I met classics like Stand By Me in my parents car. Those classics used to play on the disco when they were younger so they ended up downloading it to listen them while in the car.

That's awesome haha, I've discovered so many awesome songs and artists due to memes! They really give us so much to us haha.

Ah yeah? Peeping Tome sounds like a great wordplay haha, that's dope. Completely! Youtube or even modern music platforms like Spotify, Itunes, Amazon Music etc really do work like the ultimate jukeboxes and time machines even for us. Youtube doubly so for music videos, live performances and such just to sweeten the deal too.

Yeah, life is much more fun and interesting when you embrace so many genres and just enjoy them for what they are rather than just fixating on a few or even just one. A lot of musicians are ridiculously versatile and love to experiment with genres and such too, so it's a natural thing as well ofc.

Oh man, that must be such an immense nostalgia trip for them haha. It's so awesome that we can not only hold literally thousands of songs on a small device or even tiny cards but we can have them in our cars and play them so easily, whenever, wherever. It's just so mindblowing. I grew up on relying on cassettes towards the end of their main shelf life and also with CDs and thus walkmans and CD players and man I remember trying to take a small but still bulky CD player into school haha.
I can't imagine how your parents must feel to be able to experience that now like that, must be a dream come true?

:cheers::kata:

Sometimes I feel even weird when I discover a good song because of Tik Tok for example, it's like really weird lol, but happens more than what I would like to admit.

It's quite weird ngl, but the mix ends up being godly. At least imo, some people might not like it. If I am not mistaken, the genre is Electro Swing. If you want to give it a try:

Rn for music on the computer I have Spotify, which is perfect to listen some music while playing or using the computer in general, which also recommends me a lot of new stuff. For my phone I use the local Music Xiaomi app, which doesn't rlly recommend anything new sadly, and sometimes I might use YouTube, whose system is kinda a mess ngl.

I enjoy listening to basically every genre, there's a specific genre that we have in our country and I'm slowly starting to pick up a few songs that I like. Sadly, my classmates only like said specific genre so they basically play the same songs over and over which ends up boring me a little bit. I usually need to give some songs rest so I can enjoy it again. Sometimes I tend to listen to the same song like 20 times in one day, and when I wake up the next morning I don't even enjoy that songs anymore lmao. After 1 week I can come back tho, it feels weird ngl.

For me and for most of the people born after the 2000s, it isn't that weird to have a CD or USB with hundreds and hundreds or songs so it wasn't that mind blowing. And when I look some years ago I rlly get impressed seeing how they had to listen to even some basic songs, and how many problems those devices gave them. But for my parents, who spent most of their young days in the communist period, even discovering the existence of more music genres was mind blowing. And pretty much yeah, I can even see their enjoyment when some specific songs play in the car.

Oh yeah I can relate to that! Sometimes we can discover awesome new songs in such a random, weird and unexpected way!

Ah yeah Electro Swing! I've enjoyed some songs from that genre from time to time! I've enjoyed songs by Caravan Palace in that regard especially too!

:moonwalk::optimistic::finally::blobdj:
:queenmoji::funky::kata:
The game A Hat In Time had this fantastic electro swing song in an absolutely uniquely brilliant, creative, intense, exciting, thrilling and fun level!:

There's also another beautiful game called Contrast which had an electro swing song for one of it's trailers at least:

(The game also features Elias Toufexis, the voice of the awesome Adam Jensen from Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the protgaonist's father too!)

Yeah, Youtube's system is messy and it doesn't help they are doubling down (literally even) on forcing ads and even unskippable and long ones on us again! I use ad blocking on my PC which works fine BUT on the Youtube app on mobile, I have to suffer the adpocalypse!

Ah really? What genre is that? Damn that does sound like it would get boring, having to listen to the same type of music over and over ofc. Yeah, we can easily burn ourselves out on listening to the same songs or even bands over and over, much like eating the same foods far too often or playing the same games too often ofc.

Ah yeah, that is a complete mood haha. Some songs just hook us with no mercy and we are stuck in an almost endless loop of vibing to a great new song or rediscovered familiar song and as you said, we can even end up not enjoying it only the next day later LOL! It's such a weird phenomenon! I can completely relate to that!

Oh yeah that's understandable! I always wondered how people born post start of the new millenium and just these past 2 new decades would compare in perspective to people like me from the 90s who had far inferior technology, accessibility and what not. It's crazy to see how technology has rapidly evolved in such a few decades especially in gaming more than anything by far!

Ahaha, oh yeah, I've seen people having to fiddle and struggle with the truly old fashioned massive radios, jukeboxes and record players/gramophones and such in videos/tv programmes, that is so crazy to imagine! It really is a completely different era in that regard!

Oh wow the communist period, I can imagine how limiting that must have been and thus why discovering even more new genres of music must have been so overwhelming and thus mind blowing for them. Talk about discovering a whole new world even! That's incredible to think about, kinda reminds me of how I've taught my grandparents about smartphones and digital TV and how they've discovered Youtube and mobile games and had their minds blown too hahahaha.

It's fun at the end tho and kinda weird when you think about. I'm mostly like: "Damn, such a hit and I didn't even know about it's existence." But I still enjoy it at the end.

I don't usually listen to a lot of Electro Swing, bar Peeping Tom and 1 or 2 more songs it's probably one of the genres that I listen the least. Still very good nonetheless. I will give those songs that you posted a try.

I use YouTube mostly on my phone, it's more comfortable for me, still, with so many adds I might change to pc. I will probably turn it off sometimes. There are a few YouTubers that I wouldn't rlly mind watching some adds to help them out even if it's only a little bit. But overall it is quite messy, sadly, it's our only option.

You probably didn't hear about it but the genre is called "Manele" here. It's the classic here in my country. It's usually used for parties and to go all out lmao. There are some chill songs too tho. But after listening to them so many times in class I don't even want to hear about them the rest of the time. I don't know if you'll end up liking it or not. If you want I could link here a few songs that I personally like. Either that or you can go and experience the fun of searching lol.

It happens a lot of time and I can really say that I hate it. In that moment the vibe and mood is top tier but the next day it's just a pain and you basically feel empty like "Why did I even like this song so much" a mood killer indeed ngl.

I don't have a lot of experience because I was born in a family that managed to adapt to it rather soon. But I did have some experiences with those old devices when I used to visit my grandma. And hell no I wouldn't go back, I still have PTSD and some angry bursts when I remember the problems that those devices gave me.

From what I've heard, it was indeed very bad in so many ways. But it was also very very good in other aspects. Obviously, that's what my parents told me so the bias might affect their opinion. And I have to admit that I hate acting like a teacher, I have 0 patience.

Oh yeah absolutely, those completely wild pleasant surprise discoveries are the best!

Ah yeah? Same here honestly but nice, thank you! Hopefully you'll enjoy them!

Yeah the ads are really getting obnoxious and frustrating. Do you know the entire Lego Movie was posted as an ad before too!?

Oooh Manele? Nice name! Not heard of it sadly, but I will check it out! Ahahaha, I can imagine! Must be tiring to hear them so often! You're welcome to post some anyway and I'll give them a try!

Yeah, it kinda feels like a hangover or energy crash or something? Kinda like gloomy weather the next day after a wonderful warm day of sunshine or something? That feeling is so awful, I get exactly what you mean. I guess it's kinda like falling out of love with someone or something but much more rapidly ofc? I guess that's the perils of dopamine and addiction as usual? Those euphoric highs?

Oh yeah? That must have been an interesting experience and OH DAMN LOL, PTSD hahaha! That is such a relatable mood! When I tried to use older devices/technology I get wound up and like playing older games or using older software, it can really be a pain in the ass. I can understand that feeling of PTSD so much haha.

Same here, I have 0 patience at all. I love the idea of being a teacher but it's impossible due to my lack of patience. I have no experience of communism nor knowledge of it so I can't really judge it but I imagine it was created with the right or good intentions or so and it's just how it's interpreted/executed/handled and thus not manipulated/abused and thus corrupted or so like many other systems and things in life? I have been curious about it but I cannot stand politics, sociology and so on, I find life complicated and overwhelming as it is so I try to stay deliberately ignorant about it unless it's a need to know basis haha.
