Controversial What bothers you about this flashback?

Lackeybeard and Fraudger are what bother me about this flashback. Btw is this supposed to be Loki's backstory or something? This has to be the most sidetracked run on sentence in the history of flashbacks.
You can’t convince me that this was always Oda’s plan for them. No way that Pre-TS Oda intended to slander Roger this much

So far this is a great flashback, Rocks is one of the best character written by Oda in recent times. I don’t know why Oda chose Shakky as one of the trigger of God Valley, treasures and devil fruits would have been sufficient to justify the Rocks Pirates presence on God Valley ( + the family for Rocks), but it doesn’t bother me as choice, the only problem is Roger, I hope Oda redeems him next chapter. This will be the longest flashback in One Piece history, we are still missing Harald death, Loki and Lola, Loki vs Shanks.

P.S. Dragon on God Valley great decision

Nobody cares about the D Families, the Davy Families, the Buccaneers nor the CD Clans..because they were never shown..
The Davy thing he is jusst using the Hype created by Pirates of Carribean Honestly, Also we know he is going to Retcon him, I remember Davy Jones initally being some kid or something maybe I am mis remembering. Then in SBS he was a old fart. No way anyone can see him as a legend unless Retcon. And that ain't gonna work.
Relying on hype...and evenn that hype is pretty much pathetic.
What are you even saying? Good storytelling always rely on popular or deeper culture. The Davy revelation was solid.

It's like sayin "I don't like when Oda uses Disney themes out of the blue in wholecake just to stand on the hype.

There is absolutely no retcon and these usage of pop culture is how narration works.

It's not lol
Even Sanji's behavior is seen as goofy simp shit
And it's the moment where I need to prove you that .. yes, it is.
One Piece is all about the romanticization of reality, it's an exagerated take on adventure, a exagerated take on humans interactions.

It's like having a button to multiply everything from feelings to situation by 10.

When people will simply be attracted in normal life, people in One Piece are crazy in love, when people are strong, they are capable of destroying mountains, when there is bad behavior, it's up to incredibly horrible degrees. Backstory are not just sad, they are heartbreaking, funny moments are not just happy, they are the memories that can change the world. Monsters in the sea are not just small beast, they are sea KINGS of hundreds of meters.

Do you understand what I'm saying ? This is not some random strange behavior in One Piece, this is something we have witness from the first chapter.

When Luffy tried to prove his worth,, the VERY FIRST picture of him, was not just a kid trying to jump high, or be strong, it was a kid who planted a knive into is cheek while aiming to his eye:

Shakky being the pivot of this conflict and the most beautiful woman, is not a random bad written character traits, it's completely coherent within the context of the story.

That man loved a singer named Bjork, and he claimed he loved her so much that he didn't even want to have sexual relations with her. Yet his obsession was so deep that he sent a bomb to her home out of anger.
Do you sincerely believe that this isn't on the level of, if not worse than, the obsession characters have for Shakky or the obsession Sanji has for women?

No. Because you still look at One Piece's interaction through the lens of your realistic vision of the world.

This man, if he was sent in the One Piece world, would not just love the women in question, his love would completely modify his own physical body to a point of being unrecognizable. He would not just send a bomb, he would try to annihilate her entire country through a nuclear warhead, he wouldn't just be a stalker, he would find a way to enter her entire thoughts and nightmares. He would have a devilfruit so intrusive that the single moment you look at this man, he would freeze you to death by simple disgust.

In fact... here it is, you just gave me the idea of his fruit in the One Piece world the Disgust-Disgust fruit. You could imagine a world where his entire mind would instantly put women in fear all around him, where men would not be able to act.

It would actually even be an amazing opponent for Luffy as Luffy would be - once again - his natural ennemy. Luffy is a man that doesn't act on lust and interest, he is not disgusted, by people our the world he is mad at them. He takes everything as an adventure And so, the simple act of looking RIGHT THROUGH the insecurities of the ennemy.. would allow Luffy to completely deny the sheer power of this guy.

This is what romanticization and exageration through storytelling means.

I didn't even need to stop to think to make this post. Imagine what Oda could do with such material.

How does this debunk my point that there's people in real life that are just as disgusting as the characters in OP?
Whether or not Oda would dramatize that guy doesn't matter. My point is he's even worse than Sanji despite not being a fictional person.
