Break Week What did Shanks want from the Gorosei?

Shanks requested a meeting with the Gorosei and apparently it was so important that he went out of his way to get their personally, without even his crew which he usually takes everywhere.

Shanks intentions throughout the series have been clear cut. He always wanted to keep the balance and peace of the world, therefore he's ready to work with anyone even the WG.

- We also know that Shanks's role in the series is to warn before catastrophic events accure, usually tied to Blackbeard since he knows his intentions and what he's after.

I personally think that only 2 options make sense and i don't know which one to with:

• Shanks expected Blackbeard to aim for the Ancient weapons and proposed an alliance with the WG to crush Blackbeard before he succeeds.
• Shanks expected a return of Rocks and wanted to warn the Government about that.

Both make absolutely much sense to me, what do ya'll think he wanted ?

I have my headcanon ( trust my I have a lot of them ).

Shanks wanted to talk about a "Certain Pirate" and I think this certain one is the Lurking Legend.

People quickly jumped to the conclusion that okay Shanks is talking either about Blackbeard or Luffy without thinking about it twice.

I know he could talk about BB or Luffy I don't deny it completely but I don't think Shanks sees Luffy as a threat so I removed him from a potential people.

There is also Blackbeard. I think Shanks is preparing to take on Blackbeard himself so he could also warn Gorosei with something similar to what Oden said to Toki. He could tell them that if he fails the world will be in danger and they need to act to protect the balance of the world.

Who is the Lurking Legend?

For me, there are only 3 options.

Shiki - We know how f'd up he was as a pirate so it wouldn't surprise anyone if he makes a comeback after all these years to try and shake the balance of the world. I don't believe that he will return but I picked him because why not. He's important to the story in one way or another.

Lurking Legend - ( I don't know if he exists it's only my headcanon so I will refer to him as Lurking Legend himself )
It's a pirate who was either a Yonko or close to that status before Shanks. We don't know when people started to recognize Kaido, Big Mom, Whitebeard, and Shanks as a Yonko. I personally think that the Yonko system existed before Shanks became one so this Lurking Legend is the former Yonko the one Shanks beat to establish himself as a Yonko himself.

Rocks D. Xebec - Yeah, I know this may sound stupid because all people think he's dead but I still have something in mind and I don't know if I remember it correctly. I don't have Viz sub so I can't check it by myself but I remember the chapter where Sengoku talked about Rocks and he said a weird line: "He's no more amongst us". People immediately thought: "Oh, he's dead okay" but me the person who likes to overthink some things jumped into the conclusion that words used by Sengoku have some deeper meaning to them.
Ofc "He's no more amongst us" could mean that he is dead but isn't this a weird sentence to use especially in the One Piece World?

I think Sengoku use these kinds of the word because Garp himself isn't 100% sure that he saw Xebec dying. Garp could witness how God's Valley was sinking with the beaten Rock's body on it but he might not be 100% sure that Xebec died that night because no one checked that because how would you do that.

I think the highest possibilities are either Rocks or Lurking Legend ( Yonko before Shanks ).

If you have Viz sub and you can check Sengoku's words from 957 and I totally messed them up. Congratulations you debunked one of my options xD.

I'm gonna keep this simple: Shanks was talking about Luffy.

Why?

1. He goes and talks to the Gorosei DIRECTLY after reading about Luffy. There were no other world events during that time period to warrant him going to see the Gorosei.

2. He already warned WB about Blackbeard. We as the reader KNOW how much Shanks dislikes BB. So why would Oda hide the pirate Shanks is discussing with the Gorosei? It makes zero sense to hide this if it was him.The news about Pluton/BB possibly going after it didnt exist until after the Reverie.

3. Rocks doesnt make sense. News of BM/Kaido's partnership didnt spread until the Reverie was over. Shanks would have had no way of knowing that news before BM even arrived at Wano.


Yes, I believe Shanks is not as "good" as many people thinks he is. This is the plot twist about his character, to which we know very little about.

Shanks is MORE THAN ABLE TO KILL Teach if he wanted

- he have strongest crew in the world with 2 top tiers (and right now that's enough)
- he could call help for Marco and entire WBP ... they would answer
- he could call help for Mihawk ... he would answer
- Kuzan would help Shanks and not Teach

so that's a clear low diff win in favor is Shanks .....


Rocks is most likely even now ... not clear .... but surely not Teach and Luffy ... that's just weak storytelling

If Oda isn't a pussy, he should honestly make a "Shanks is an evil basterd" plot twist in which he only inspired Luffy into piracy so that he gets rid of Teach later insted of the cliche that's "Shanks dies fighting Teach" bullshit. Luckily, Oda's storytelling is so unpredictable.

Fascinating and superb writing if Oda makes all the Yonko after the timeskip actual sick villains in "their own way", i want a bigger lore for Shanks' background.

Never roger or Wb or other yonkos cared about WG they fought any pirate they found him to be an obstacle even roger went without seeking help from anyone to fight rocks until he met Garp by chance while shanks went to goroseis like they are his brothers to talk about a pirate
In revery arc Mihawk got that shibuckai abolished and he didn't care about it he was excited to fight while shanks went there to see goroseis
