A lot things for me. I favour character psychology over world building. It’s mainly missing complexity for me. I like Water 7 because it had a conflict within the crew. The more characters you add, the less you can zoom in on them. I’d like to see less crowded panels, more intimate interactions, more genuine interpersonal drama (which doesn’t have to take away from the light-hearted, adventurous feel). More character-driven conflict. I appreciate Oda’s creativity, but sometimes it doesn’t feel like it brings anything meaningful.
