Powers & Abilities What is you exact thought on Gear 5 and why?

The paramecia portion of it is something Ive been imagining ever since Doflamingo did it, and it ended up working super well for Luffy, especially in the Anime where they really showed it off..

The mythical zoan side of it ive come to like more lately. The laugher/carefree side of it is super original for shonen, where everyone is edgy and needs to be angrier than the other. Luffy just laughs his ass off lol

It was an asspull, have the MC die to come back way way stronger, and that was already a very bad intro but about what it is I guess it is acceptable, for sure weird but it is also very original to have the MC of a shounen use Looney toon powers. I guess it is a mess for powerscalers since toon power is reality warping but it will be just the recurring shi* storm of vs battles.

I like it in design and powers. Making it a zoan of the sun god is the only thing that I hate. It does not fit at all and wasn't needed.

There was no indication that Luffy was a zoan through the entire series. He is the only zoan that lost his human form and is always in hybrid form. You can't even say that gears are zoan transformations because (outside of gear 5 that it's the awakening form) they are just techniques that Luffy uses and later combined with Haki to make G4. But Rubber don't work like that!? Since when did paramecias work normally? If Kaido fought kalifa and complained that bubbles don't work like that would you say that she's also a zoan?

There's also the fact that Luffy awakening is the only zoan awakening that works like a paramecia. Paramecias are the ones that get tired when using awakening. The very first thing we learned about Zoans awakening is that it gave such a strong life force that it's almost impossible to keep a awakened user down.

Then there's the Sun God that somehow instead of having lightning or fire powers is rubber. Why the sun god is rubber and have cartoons powers instead of a trickster god? no one knows. And the same sun god that was barely hinted and had no effect on the plot at all until wano. Some people point to skypedia but ignore the serpent and the other gods mentioned in the same arc.

There was no reason to make Luffy a zoan. What would change in the plot if it was just a special paramecia whose awakening was more powerful than usual and was connected to joyboy? If Oda make G5 just the awakening of the rubber fruit what would change in the fights? Why make it a zoan at all?

But outside of that it's actually a cool power and visual. I personally like it a lot.

The design is ok. He is also very strong and a lot more durable in this form. However the fighting style doesn't sit right with me, he's too careless and his techniques doesn't look good to me, like there is a lack of impact behind his attacks. I don't find it funny at all either, and that was one of Oda's goal when he made G5. It's definitey too goofy and cartoonish for my taste.
Adv CoC was a lot more interesting to me.

I understand Oda wants to have fun while he draws Luffy's fights but he could have done it differently. I'm not going to pretend that's part of Luffy's character, Luffy has always been serious when it counted and there was stakes involved, now he's laughing like an idiot whatever's happening around him or to him.

People laughed at pre skip viallains, but endgame villains will literally get clowned on.

I approve if G5.
It ridicules shonen as a whole.

It's lame, Oda isn't funny anymore he always relies on gags like eyes popping out and then he spams the same joke multiple times. Also the power to do anything he can imagine removes the stakes in Luffys fight, since he can do anything

I predicated Gear 5 back when Luffy was still in Gear 2

It's everything I expected it to be

Don't believe me? Well whatever. Wherever my old old old posts are... they describe Luffy eventually using stuff like Purple or White Haki because the Buddhism belief of Chakra uses Purple or White as it's Lotus Chakra. I even mentioned he would become some kind of a creation God later in the story and he did.

And it turned out we were right about other things like... Haki is probably indicated by what people wear and Luffy's entire body went White and he has like a purple sash. So, yeah. It's exactly what I thought he would look like.

Everyone hated my posts because they didn't like the discussions I had about Haki and subtle energy and electromagnetic waves.

I said countless things about this stuff and the theme I expected it to have.

The only thing that I didn't accurately predict about Luffy's entire development was the Snake Man form because I used the same rules Kaido used in his thought process. Luffy shouldn't have been able to make his arms bend that way.

When I tried to predict Snake Man.. I thought Luffy was going to have stripes on his arms like a snake and he would extend those specific parts, but instead he used the entire thing. That's the only thing I got wrong.

But at least it explains Luffy's tankiness and fast recovery feats
Frankly? It didn't need that much explanation.

Every single member of the crew can tank some ridiculous damage and recover fast. Most of the time Luffy fight against people that can't actually give that much damage to him because of his rubber body and even them he usually recovers at the same time than others that took way less damage than him.

You would have a better argument for members like Usopp (if he had a devil fruit) since he actually take some ridiculous amount of damage and never seems to need to stay in recovery. Luffy, in comparison, seems middle of the pack in recovery time among SHs.

Something that Luffy's creativity and ingenuity will produce rather than being a fruit that awakens itself when the user dies. Not only that but Luffy has 0 knowledge of toon force, not a second did he wonder nor thought of what he can do, he simply can do it from the get go, like being able to hold a lightning bolt or pumping his heart to regenerate from being old and dying back to 100% health.
