Character Discussion What is your opinion on the gags troupe from SHP?

Sanji is my favourite character and I understand the cultural aspect of it, but yes his gag is the worst. I like to pretend the nosebleed stuff in Fishmen Island never happened.

That isn't to say that it can't work if it isn't toned down and used appropriately. Some of my favourite moments are when it's played straight or not so pervy.
For instance, when Sanji, Luffy & Usopp were going to save the others on Skypiea and Sanji just says "I hope Nami & Robin are okay" with Luffy asking "what about Zoro & Chopper?" in the background.
Or even the Hiyori one with the "my bounty is higher than his" moment.

They are overused
Sanji's nosebleed and Zoro getting lost especially
But Usupp's is the worst because it hurts his character
Every time he gathers courage and gets one step closer to his goal he has to take two steps back because him sweating out of fear is really funny for Oda
And well Brook was never funny for me
I can't stand his skull jokes

in my opinion, brook gags were way worse than the overused gags on sanji or zoro.
Good point on the usopp gag, too. It ruined usopp's initial development in the beginning of post timeskip

Let’s just pray to god that Jinbei will not get any overused running gags to ruin his mature personality.

On topic, Sanji’s gags are the worst offender. Imagine getting a nosebleed over a 16 year old as a 21 year old.



Then there’s Nami. Her greed was funny at first, but now she’s flanderized as a bitch. Punk Hazard even has her charging money to feel her body. That’s where I stopped taking her serious.

Luffy being a dummy is usually pretty entertaining

Zoro getting lost is also entertaining

Nami being greedy is kinda necessary since she’s their treasurer

Usopp’s lying has pretty much evolved into just pre-truth

Sanjis' perversion doesn’t really bother me since it’s never rewarded

Chopper naivete annoys me the most

Robin being gloomy is good, best when Usopp's around

Franky and Super are inseparable. Neither can exist without the other

Brook's bone jokes are gold, his panty jokes didnt grow on me till he asked BM.

I think this was anime-only, but Brook being teased about his age and his reaction was pretty funny. That and Chopper finishing his skull joke, much to his disappointment as well, in that a guy that constantly makes jokes can’t take jokes being made for or about him.
