Questions & Mysteries What kind of person was Rocks D Xebec?

#1

What we know so far
  • He was a D
  • He had the ambition of becoming king of the world
  • He was defeated by roger and garp teaming up against him apparently protecting celestial dragons
  • He had enough charisma to have people like newgate, linlin, kaido, shiki, ect join him as subordinates
Not something he did but we also know that teach's ship is named after him

What do you think of xebec?
Was he a good or bad guy? Will he ever reappear alive? Etc.

I hope we learn more about him, but he wanted to become the ruler of the world and he seemed to be pretty crazy. I understand why Big Mom and Kaido would follow him, but why Whitebeard? Seems weird to me.

I think he was somewhat of a good guy he went against the world gov and the Celestial Dragons and we were told his story from the WG side so it won't be a surprise that the Wg was using propaganda and blackbeard mistook Rocks intentions and he views him as luffy views rogers

Hmmm it's either some kind of special circumstance where Xebec saved him from an unfortunate fate or like mentioned above he is very charismatic. Seeing as Whitebeard is all about code, it's more likely that he owes him his life and was faithfully following his code.

Xebec D Rocks is going to be a fishman. The first fishman with the will of D, alongside a giant thus far the only ones from other races. Xebec is probably inspired by the legend of the Roc in Sinbad, a legendary and enormous predatory bird, so I think he’ll be a flying fish. Using his fishman jujutsu he’ll surge through the updraft and use the crushing waves along with his terrifying momentum to destroy everything in it’s wake.

As a person I think he’ll be a blend of Luffy and someone more sinister like Hody Jones, being a guy who yearns for freedom and race equality - unlike Hody who is just blindly pursuing the intérets of his own race - but he shares the latter’s brutality and no-quarters-given attitude to where the goals justify the means to where he will have no qualms about killing those who dare stand in his way. He would ruthlessly eradicate the enemy forces trying to undermine his great utopia. He is dedicated like Hody and has perseverance like him to see it through.

Blackbeard ultimately doesn't fully get Xebec, kind of how Hody Jones admired Fisher Tiger but nevertheless took a course of direction that would be diametrically opposed to what Fisher Tiger stood for. Xebec is a guy who wants to create a utopia, whereas BB is driven by a will to dominate, and so sees Xebec as an inspiration insofar as him being able to do what no one had ever successfully done before him, exactly what BB is ultimately preparing for: challenging the very power of the WG itself. Whereas Xebec would have wanted to institute a democracy and world unity and all that in the aftermath of toppling the WG, Blackbeard ultimately wants to be the guy at the top.

Newgate told Teach that he wasn't the man for whom Roger waited. Teach is more like the man for whom Rocks waited

Although he also has a good chance to come back.

He might have been BB's father but regardless he was or not, I warmly expect that their personalities share many different traits.

Ruthlessness and presumption in particular

I expect him to have been a very brutal, charismatic, ruthless, ambitious and fearless man and also more intelligent that he looked with him having studied the Void Century and the World Government's dark secrets. I also imagine that he had a great hatred of the Celestial Dragons and the WG and that they wronged him in the past, and that he was one of the few to be unafraid of attacking the CD despite them being protected by the admirals and the CP0.
In my imagination he may have had a rather twisted relation with his crewmates with being both cruel and bossy to them and yet still caring for them to a degree. I also think that unlike Blackbeard he didn't fear death and even when cornered he chose to fight to the death and to inflict the most damage as possible before going down.

He is/was a D, so a lot of possibilities. Would say he is/was a lot like Teach. That being said, I don't think he will come back, simply because Luffy has his Rocks figure in Teach.

I guess he was something between Shanks and Teach

Hehehe your imagination makes him sound very awesome, tbh.

I would imagine he is very twisted and evil if Roger and Garp decided to team up.

I suspect that Xebec was the Will's inheritor of whoever started the war with the 20 Kingdoms during the Void Century or the Will's inheritor of those who were destroyed because of the 20 Kings and instead of seeking to make the world better just want to take the place of the Celestial Dragons.

That's why Teach isn't the one Roger waited for (i.e., Joyboy) but probably who Xebec was, or at least close enough to him, even if it's strange that Whitebeard didn't recognized his former captain's will in his crewmate.
