Speculations What made Orochi betray Oden?

#25
I would guess that Orochi became shogun legitimately but got pissed off that people were more loyal to Oden than himself. He probably feared Oden would take his position away and sided with Kaido to keep it.
I fail to see how Orochi could legimately become shogun.
The Kozuki family were Wano's royalty and you could only legimately become shogun via heritage. It's not like there is an election or anything. The only possible scenario of him "legimately" becoming shogun is if Oden's father adopted that little weasel Orochi and the latter pulled a Stelly while Oden was voyaging with WB/Roger.

Occhi wanted to be the shogun ever since he was a servant. So he is a cunning bastard who found the opportunity to work together with Kaido to take over Wano and get rid of Oden.

Tfw when Kaido looks like a minor villain compared to Orochi
Kaido is the muscle, but Orochi is the brain.
In a way the latter is more frightening (at least to me). I hope Oda actually flashes Kaido a bit more out, too. So far we know he is a villain of course, but it's not like we are really emotionally invested in him. With Orochi it's different.

Has Oda even built an emperor being the brain? except BM when she isnt craze
Also Teach.

Kaido WB arent the Brian type to make plans and that
Shanks I think he is the brain type.

Orochi is the villain falling first too so Oda is fleshing him out coz his ending is coming
While kaido will fall later on in the arc

I agree here..cause atm i'm more interested in seeing Orochi's defeat

This dude cause so much troubles etc and the whole arc atm seems to be about defeating him .

Well until kaido takes over that's it
Hopefully he's a generic villain

Orochi is still bumbling and foolish. I think some have gone a bit overboard with how Machiavellian he is. So far, there's lots of secrets he doesn't know, and the ones he does know were relayed to him by a third party. Sure, he formulated the plan based on the info he received, but it still translates to only half the job getting done. And we've yet to see the true results of it.

Imo, Orochi is but an opportunist. He strikes any chance he has at more power. He doesn't know the meaning of loyalty or principles. It's why he live a hedonistic life as Shogun, and expects everything handed to him on a silver platter. And when things go wrong, he runs behind his muscles like Kaido or Kyoshiro. Never taking responsibility like a good leader should.

WB's main Marine rival was the great tactician Sengoku. Sengoku and WB were playing Chess in the Marineford Plaza before entering the fray themselves.
