During WCI, they made a point that the People on WCI had to give up some of their life span or leave the Island. What was the point if it was never brought up again or done anything with it?

At first I thought it could be Big Mom would use that to fuel her during her fight on Wano. Similar to Moriah with the 1000 shadows. But that never happen, so it felt like there was no point to it.
