Questions & Mysteries What was the point of BM's memory loss??

I truly do not f'ing understand why Oda did that. This is completely useless for me especially now that her memories are back. He wasted so many chapters on that Meme sh*t like Luffy couldn't braw with Queen or something.

Amnesia plot is one of the worst if not the worst side plot of Wano.
yeah right? glad that i made this thread, found out it's not just me that hate that plot

Probably just to help free Luffy and the other prisonners in Udon and to set up the alliance between Kaido and BM though whateever reason.
I suspect however that the link that was created between Linlin and Tama will play its role later in the arc and maybe Tama will manage to suceed in taming Linlin where everyone else failed.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Oda plans to have BM somehow reverts to her nicer and kinder self for good and that one of the points of her coming to Wano was to create ties between a starving country and the country of food that can help save Wano from hunger and thirst.

It's going to come full circle, been saying that for almost more than a year now.

Big mom is not going to fall like Kaidou this arc. Mid fight, something will happen, that will revert Big mom back to her O-Lin state. Oda wanted to showcase that it's kinda her real personality. Then she's going to "backstab" Kaidou.

I think that's a way how Oda takes out two Yonkou without having to take them out in a fight. Kaidou dies while Big mom will not have any motivation to continue her PK journey.

She kinda already has her paradise built, it's just her personality that prevents them from living in harmony together.

Because BM is all set up to be given a redemption arc. She was a sweet kid who was horribly misled by Carmel and Strusen, and has a dreadful uncontrollable condition. She has a noble, but twisted dream, because of that. Her big, horrible act of "killing" her son was reversed when we discovered BM can restore the lifespan of people she takes and Moscato was brought back to life- expect to see Opera again at some point. Her crew are, relatively speaking, not that bad- Katakuri respects Luffy, the older ones all seem to be genuinely affectionate towards each other, Lola and her mother clearly got along well, Pudding's been redeemed, Perospero offered to let Brook and Chopper leave WCI even after they fucked up the wedding and tried to assassinate his mother, Pekoms is a decent guy, they didn't actually kill Pound.
So we get a reminder here that Big Mom, without the malign influences of her life, would be a good person. It lets Oda move her about Wano without causing absolute mayhem, before getting her in place for the alliance.
