Questions & Mysteries What was the point of "evil" Sanji?

#4
There was never an evil sanji, only complete idiots got baited into some narrative that never happened. All in desperation to validate their headcannons as to how Sanji is not complete fodder compared to Zoro.

Anyone with half a working braincell would instantly have figured out that Sanji never hurt the girl in the first place, theres no way in hell Oda would let him hit a woman.

Master baiting the fanbase as usual.

:goatasure: :mihugh:

Honestly, given Germa's tendency to use clones and rely on them, I'm surprised we haven't had a literal evil clone for Sanji too. There was meant to be another brother too called Goji but Oda changed his mind.

Would have been ironic if this "Evil Sanji clone" was themed around the colour white vs Sanji's black theming or even yellow? Kinda like how Joy was the "villain" of Inside Out and seemed so "innocent" with her bright colours and personality? It also fits perfectly with the deceptive saccharine empire of Big Mom's "utopia" that's really a dystopia masquerading as a "paradise" to live there.

Mashima did something similar with Gray "turning evil" at one point in Fairy Tail but that was also a bait. It was also reminsicent of Sasuke's storyline in Naruto ofc but a fakeout instead.

Oda still won't even let Sanji fight women to protect his nakama. Even if they try to kill them. The closest he did was block Prometheus and even then would he have risked it if Big Mom was "hot/beautiful"?

It's great for his own character, his integrity for him to not "turn evil" but it's very naive, unrealistic and leads to major issues ultimately. Black Maria was the perfect example of that but WCI also served to brutally decontruct his overwhelmingly chivalrous attitude too. Even though his chivalry is actually more specifically for "beautiful women" though too.

If Oda had actually stuck with Evil Sanji, it could have served to truly show the consequences of WCI and his own family's actions on him too. Hell, "Evil Sanji" should have actually appeared at WCI and given Pudding a taste of her own medicine for manipulating him so brutally but especially for shooting his sister and quite literally messing with her memories too.

Given how much screentime Sanji got for that arc and the appearance and involvement of his own family, Evil Sanji could have been a "necessary evil" ironically to help them succeed but then Sanji tormented by guilt on having to rely on it, swears to never rely on it again and vows to get stronger immediately in every way he can so he doesn't have to rely on his family's methods.

You could have this wonderful contrast of the original and good Sanji vs the evil one and his own fiancee with her split personality ofc too. Her 3rd is revealed and awakens, Sanji's exoskeleton awakens and his eyebrows change and such. Hell's Memories gets brought up again, elaborated on and is understood much better and much more popular to the literal reappearance of his family in his life after all these years and thus provoking the flames of HM to the highest they ever could be. The "true Hell's Memories".

This is just me randomly improvising and speculating as usual, but this would have added so much more to the arc. Brook knew of the ViInsmokes before and it never got elaborated on beyond him mentioning that. Pedro and Brook could have been the ones to help snap Sanji out of his "Evil State" too, the ones to ground him and make him focus. God knows, Jinbei would have done it too and it could have helped foster a bond between Sanji and Jinbei after what happened at FMI and the start of "Jinbei's redemption arc" for Sanji in his eyes too. I also really wanted to see Sanji face off against Katakuri over Pudding or "Evil Sanji" could have faced Smoothie instead and even helped actually fight Big Mom specifically too later.

We even had Brulee making "evil clones" of the SHs with her mirror DF which reflects the themes (oh god that pun) and the Vinsmoke's use of cloning technology ofc too.

Given how sadistic/brutal Black Mari and Ulti have turned out to be for example, that should have been the breaking point for Sanji to wake up and realise he can't simp and be chivalrous for all women no matter how pretty they are and how "dainty" they seem to be.

I loved what Oda did with Robin vs Maria but he also ruined Sanji even more there imo until he made up for it MASSIVELY vs Queen now ofc and there was the absolutely awful writing of Usopp and Nami vs Page One and Ulti too. Also the AWFUL writing of Big Mom from early Wano till now too. He did give Sanji some great moments here and there from Wano to Onigashima too ofc, but the Maria incident was hugely disappointing after all that happened with WCI.

I am glad he chose to destroy the raid suit and do things on his own terms though but this still feels like a cheap cop out and thus bait after all that set up Oda just did and showing Sanji's fear of turning into a monster and thus a point of no return and begging Zoro to kill him he becomes said monster.

This could have beeen another Thriller Bark Zoro and Sanji vs Kuma moment but even heavier potentially too. I mean Sanji asks Zoro to kill him if necessary despite knowing his exoskeleton has awoken and thus it broke Queen's sword when he struck him, so he probably knows that Zoro will be able to harm and even kill him, because it is Zoro to be fair ofc, the future WSS who took on 2 Yonkos with others and managed to tank a combined attack from them ever so briefly too. which nobody else has even done as far as know too.

Oda really dropped the ball on this anyway, like he has done with King generally too. I think Katakuri got a lot more focus just because he was Luffy's opponent and his foil/parallel/counterpart or even (drum roll) his "mirror image" who he fought in the "mirror world" ofc! Zoro's had a lot of very interesting opponents but they never were really fleshed out, just having their cool attitudes and fights with Zoro. 2 badass stoics clashing with each other with a contrast of ideals and motives.

As great as King is, I think he suffers from not being Luffy's opponent ironically too. Luffy also said he was gonna take down Jack back in Zou and it just makes me weep even more for the immense wasted potential and downplaying of Jack too. He should have been Luffy's Blueno for the New World/Yonkos/Post TS but nope, Oda fucked up as usual.

I don't really care about it, but it was hilarious how people thought That Oda who sees the Monster Trio as role models for young boys would make Sanji assault a woman like that.

Just like people who thought that Jinbei would die in WCI

How can people even read One Piece for this long and still not understand Oda?

I think we should wait, maybe Oda made us think that Sanji is fine, and that nothing will happen only because he didn't hit the geisha.

He could be trolling again

Chapter 1031 gave too much focus to Zoro and Sanji's speeches, is it going to get forgotten like that? like it meant nothing?
:quest:

Exactly
:cantseeme:

Anyway, it will probably turn into some funny moment where Zoro looks worried about Sanji and tries to hide that from Sanji himself
