General & Others When does an anime portion that was not adapted from the manga become canon?

Just curious this is mainly about one piece but also could apply to other Mangas and animes.

My question is when does some thing that appeared in the anime but not in the manga becomes canon ( if at all that is)

1-it never does> obvious
2-Only if it appeared in any other source material that Oda drawn himself (sbs novels etc)> anything that we can trace back to a source material that Oda written said or drawn himself
3-If Oda himself told the anime producers about how wants the portion to be animated> If Oda himself told the producers how he wants the anime section to be animated and what story to follow what things not to say or do. Its like passing how he wants the anime story or portion more or less to be verbally.
4-If Oda approved it > It was the animators idea but Oda approved that he likes the idea
5-Always > You dont really believe that.

Never; Oda can approve stuff in the anime or even design/write it, but unless he includes any of it in the manga, I don’t think it ever becomes officially sanctioned information.

Oda's word is undisputable. But I guess it's important that if he says something that something is put into the work or else it's not part of the manga. But since interpretation does exist, we simply go with Oda's declared version in the case that it's possible.

Thats what i mean, If he had an interview and just theoretically speaking some one asked him can usopp fly and he seriously answered yes and it wasnt mentioned in the manga. Then its not canon? even if the author himself thinks thats the case?

Yes it basically becomes canon if the interpretation can fit a drawn panel for example.

For example if a panel doesn't show much about how a fight goes, one thinks there are several interpretations depicting possible scenarios. If Oda tells what happened, then that becomes the only valid interpretation.

I mean if its canon in the eyes of the author then who we to say its not even if its not yet implemented in the manga at that point.

Consider the manga and anime as two separate entities telling the same story. Whatever happens in the anime is canon to itself, but has no bearing on the manga. That's basically how people approach movie adaptations of novels.

The only problem with saying "Oda approved it" is well... Oda approves many things, he doesn't care that much about the anime since he views it as a different thing from the manga.
