Whether you think the meeting will actually happen or not when do you think luffy will finally be ready to meet shanks?

The last time it was mentioned was when shanks saw luffys bounty increase post whole cake and mentioned how soon itll be

He will be ready to meet Shanks as soon as the story plot will demand it. I expect however that it is reasonable he must be quite closer to his EoS potential before meeting Shanks.

The very significance lying beneath rendering Shanks the hat back is the realization of having turned into a great pirate.

I think it makes sense that Luffy renders him the hat only when he has turned into a great pirate. But that could eventually occur before the final events. Shanks might never get killed regardless however, that theory is just fanmade.

Once he defeats Shanks' greatest rival, BB... On paper at that point, Luffy already defeated 2 of Shanks' contemporaries: Buggy and BB (3 if you count Bullet)... Those, aside from his other feats in the OP world alone, can make people consider him as a "great pirate"...
