I mean, do you like both equally? I like Zoro too, but I enjoy Sanji more.
I do prefer Zoro, voted for him, and I do defend him on power level threads, but I do like Sanji quite a lot in his own right. Used to have figurines of both back when I was a teenager.

This is pretty much a Marvel vs DC topic. But worse, because Marvel vs DC is purely subjective, but Zoro vs Sanji devolves into power levels, which is more objective in this particular case, but then I'm supposed to be a hater just because I don't think Sanji is stronger than (or truly as strong as) Zoro. I guess I can't like a character without wanking him to high heaven.

I just want to see ages mostly.

There's a general idea that kids and teens gravitate towards Zoro more for swords, coolness, and shounen factor where adults prefer narrative and psychoanalysis development more, thus like Sanji.

I want to see what both end in.

Zoro is stronger but Sanji is a better character.
Zoro is physically stronger but Sanji is faster.
Zoro is a battle genius but Sanji is strategically smarter.

I could list more.:kayneshrug:
I would argue that while Sanji has certainly been given more depth, the better character part is subjective (yet perfectly valid, mind you, but being a simpler character, like Zoro admittedly is, can still make a good character).

The rest are objectively true as far as I remember.

Agreed.

You don't have to be well written to be a good character. At least for Zoro.

Zoro is the kind of character that doesn't evolve throughout the story, but that's entirely intentional (you know how many fans Goku has and he's the same in that sense. Even Luffy is. Nothing really changed about him not even after Marineford).

He's stoic, he acts according to a moral/honor code (yet still manages to be unpredictable at times) but he's still a very fun character compared to similar archetypes from other mangas (with stuff like getting lost, his silly moments with Sanji or even recently with the Lunarian stuff). People who love him love him as he is. His admitted simplicity plays very well into his charm and isn't detrimental at all.

The cool factor is obviously a big part of why people like him, but the same has always been true for Sanji. The stuff about Germa, his true origins, etc is super recent at least for I who have been following for like two decades now. What most people dislike about Sanji is his simpness and how far that's taking (which in refusing to hit even Black Maria goes full circle and becomes big time sexism), but I don't think there's anyone who truly dislikes Sanji's introspection and all the stuff about his blood origin. So it's not fair to claim the difference between one's fans and the other's is maturity.

I like a lot of seinen, I like Sanji, I still do prefer Zoro.
