Character Discussion Which Gen Does Loki Belong To?

Character generations are mostly defined by which eras those characters became most famous in (does not necessarily have to be their prime). We have cases of characters being different in age but still being counted as among that generation. The general consensus is Old Gen (WB, BM, Roger, Garp, Rayleigh, Sengoku), Mid Gen (Shanks, Mihawk, Dragon, Akainu) and Current Gen/Worst Gen (Luffy, Zoro, Sabo, Coby, Kid, Law). We have outliers like Kaido who is much younger than the likes of WB, Roger, Garp but he is mostly counted as a figure of the past, a remnant of Rocks crew that became a Yonko like WB and BM. In the flashback Roger, Garp and Rocks are shown to be of same era, however, Rocks seems older than the other two. Age gaps in same gen can be big like Kaido being 15 years younger than WB or Shanks being 16 years younger than Dragon and Akainu.

BB on the other hand is an outlier because age wise he is older than Shanks but in manga he is classified as Worst Gen along with the Supernovas who are mostly young (Urouge is old I think). BB always was powerful, he hid his strength but his rise as Warlord and Yonko came at same time as rise of the SNs.

Loki is the weirdest case of all though. He can be placed in 3 generations. By age he is older than Kaido and only 5 years younger than BM. By age and rise he is in same generation as Shanks, Dragon, Akainu, Mihawk. By human adjusted age he is in the same gen as the SN and paralleled with Luffy. By his own admission he has been born in the wrong era. His relationship to Rocks is similar to Luffys to Shanks so by this and his rise he should be in similar gen as Shanks.

Loki is 21 years old in human terms. He is new gen no doubt imo.

He lies in that BB-ish territory where on paper he should bare minimum be mid gen but he likely won’t be a “central figure” in the world until this arc/after this arc

Which means he’d be new gen. Not to mention that in giant years he’s only 21 which fits with the idea of him coming up alongside the newest generation

So I’d go new generation

I would count him in the new Gen with Strawhats.
It is due to time difference in Elbaf that he is spread among many eras but the present is undoubtedly where his purpose lies.
He is just Elbaf's Yamato and Yamato is placed in the same New Gen as well.

Generations are Defined by who Ruled at the time, after that you belong to whichever you reached your Highest Threat during,
It doesn't matter your Age or how long you've been Active or how many Incidents you're Famous for,

1. Xebec Era
2. Garp Era
3. WB/Big Mom Era
4. Blackbeard Era

Loki is with Current Era, alongside Blackbeard.

Chronologically he's been active since young Shanks' time so he would be Mid Gen from that perspective.

But of course haters ain't ready for that conversation, because in his debut he is already stronger than 6 God Valley top tiers combined. Imu didn't bother fighting GV top tiers and left it to his secretary DR Xebec, while Imu himself has all time fighting non hybrid Loki and still struggling.

You're slowly learning.
The more you realize how fraudulent the old gen is, the better you can just toss them away.
