Ryuma had a shit sword that capped at great grade, the sword doesn't make the swordsman.
With that said, Shanks has a supreme grade sword and I wouldn't be surprised if supreme grade weapons have powerful abilities unlike the lower grade swords that only have nerfs.

Ryuma is not powerful as Roger,mihawk and WB cause he has no supreme blade. Yes blade rank is very important. The quality of the sword mean increase ap, cutting power and also durability. Sword durability is very important cause a swordman can use sword durability to defend themselves? Why can Oden get up after getting divine departure by Roger? The answer is he blocking the attack with 2 great blade enma and ame no habakiri . Why Zoro able to block hakai? Cause he has 2 great blade enma and wado ichimonji plus skilled blade sandai

kitetsu to defend and blocking it. Outside of Zoan durability or lunarian durability. A ranked blade durability especially supreme blade should also take into account. Roger and mihawk is normal human. But both can have extreme durability by defend and blocking with their supreme blade. I would say swordmans is the best fighting style for normal human.
