Both villains were massive in their respective series and share a handful of similarities.
  • Taking on a gauntlet of enemies
  • Posing an existential threat to their worlds
  • Both killed the main character(s).

Kaido, to start off with? Was nearly invincible the entire run of the manga. From the second we see him to his last moments he has an air of warmed importance and power. Outright knocking out Luffy, beating the supernova, fighting Linlin for 12 hours all before the big war part of Wano started.

This guy is brutal and definitely gets points for being a dragon. There’s not a lot scarier than his flaming bagua lol.

Madara, on the other hand, was “in” the series for hundreds of chapters before officially appearing. He’s got a lot of cred from Tobito, as everything Obito only elevated Madara knowing Obito was a cheap knock off. Then when we finally see him? Appearing to take on an army of Shinobi, dropping meteors on them, resisting Edo Tensei’s cancellation & destroying the Gokage…

Then that doesn’t even factor in when he’s fully revived. He takes on Naruto, Tobirama, Sasuke, Gaara and all the Bijuu. This man was absolutely insane.

Madara and it isn't close.

Kaido 1st appearance: absolute demon
2nd appearance: image takes a shot when he's shown as a crying drunk
3rd appearance: shown as a goofy happy drunk
4th appearance: freaking out about BM
5th appearance: almost gets 2 shot killed by Oden and needs help

Funnily enough is how Kaido is the better character and his goofy traits "humanizes" him. Madara has mostly been nothing but a revered powerhouse.

That’s interesting, you have Kaido > Madara as a character?

Both share several common aspects, but I lean towards Kaido.

- Defeated by Hashirama and nearly killed.
- After his defeat, he humiliated himself to the extent of implanting Hashirama's cells into his chest. It would be like Kaido, after defeating Oden, wanting to learn sword fighting. The funny part is that Kaido carries Oden's scar, and Madara has Hashirama's face on his chest.
- Faced insane challenges and important characters, similar to Kaido facing the new generation, which according to Oden, are the only ones capable of defeating him and those who lead the new generation. So, the 5 Kages = 9RH, Tailed Beasts + the rest = 5 Supernovas, Madara + Obito = Kaido + Big Mom, Sasuke + Naruto after death = Joyboy/Nika.
- Both killed protagonists, etc.

But the way Madara lost didn't please me. Kaido fell as the last remaining threat, while Madara was pathetically killed to make way for a bigger villain, and for that reason, Kaido is better.

"Are you a One Piece simp?"

What thread are you going to make next? "Did Kuma or Guts have a sadder backstory?"

Kaido of the unresolved suicidal tendencies and 4 panel flashback > Madara as a character?
