Whitebeard was a beast even post-Rocks. He crushed Crocodile's original crew (not sure if he killed any of them though, as Croc implies that he was betrayed; the opposite of what happened to Ace). A lot of ID level 6 prisoners also had grudges against him. But, contrary to Xebec, he showed a lot of compassion, even in the Rocks' flashback.

The marines never mentioned Rocks to the new era of marines like Koby, like it’s forbidden knowledge.

It was confirmed by Big Mom, with Cp-0 agents there at the Oni-raid.

All that those new marines knew Whitebeard for was his war against them 2 years ago.

Not different from Zoro if you ask me. They don't really fit in a crew or at least having a captain above them. But i guess they are part of it for the same reason : their captains are kinda different from other captains. Luffy or Xebec are kinda the same too. And WB is man of words so if Xebec won Wb in a Davy Back Fight, then WB will follow Xebec blindly.

we're literally told Rocks gained his crew from davy back fights, so he probably took WB from another pirate ship and WB stays out of honor

Kinda wish he wasn't part of Rocks' crew, it sort of dehypes him a bit.

Then again I guess him growing out of the shadow of Rocks and becoming Roger's equal is just as impressive.
