Remember when Chopper fought a Sky Priest over Robin, was to pair up with Zoro and Sanji in the Groggy Ring, and got the stronger CP9 Agent over Franky?

This scene makes me hate Usopp's devolution so much.
Chopper has been degraded to a mere "kawaii" mascot post-skip.
In terms of character Oda has written the once cool reindeer into a one-dimensional little crybaby, that is completely inept on his own and lacks any kind of confidence.
Pre-skip Chopper was actually a fine character with flaws, but clear character progression.
Post-skip Chopper is a disgrace and more meme than character.
Smoker:He haunt luffy through the GL during the NW he has become a punching bag
Smoothie and snack:useless yonko commanders
Big meme:better not talk about her
L drake:Sword captain top worstgen member in sabondy,he probably will have a fight against a TR or a calamity reality:he is weak af
Hawkins:he became a younko bitch unlike Apoo who at least his own bussines
Kidd:he is suppose to be luffy's pk rival when he is weaker than luffy's RHM who wants to be the WSS
2 SH when they are all together(like Brook or Ussop in this arc)
Edit: just want to clarify that it can be for many reasons that you may think certain characters are done dirty like Even Nami for someone being a core 3 member of the story being outshined by side piece's.
Or BM and Kidd for lack of display and lack of hype show cased compared to what they were portrayed as etc...
Smoker do I even need to explain...
Sanji a punching bag for arc villains and poor comic relief.
The notion of Oda using Sanji as stepping stone for other character's powerlevel did happen and present since way back, and it comes with many flavors. Sometimes it's serious, sometimes it's gag. Sometimes Sanji got clearly defeated, or losing momentarily, or matched evenly when he actually can win, or just not finishing up the fight, or simply end things unclearly.
It's not me being an embittered Sanji fans, but the facts are there and canon.
Let's take random examples from random arcs, that can be included in the above's scenario.
- Jaya arc, Sanji got attacked by montblanc and appears to be on the weak end
- Fishman Island, Sanji bleeds from simple punches of Luffy and Jinbe
- Baratie, can't even defeat Gin, when Luffy easily took care of Krieg
- Wano, got thrown around to showcase Page One's Ancient Zoan attributes
- Onigashima, can't even flinch King to showcase his strength and durability
- Punk Hazard, the famous can't break wall/door
- Punk Hazard, the famous leg cracking and unfinished fight
- Onigashima, can't even save Momo from slow flying enemy (narrative purpose lose)
- Logue Town, taken care of by Smoker in a flash (at the same time Zoro conveniently not present)
- WCI, didn't finish some veteran level ministers
- Dressrosa, can't even move from Doffy's casual attacks
Whether these things are meant for Sanji to be used as hype tool or not, it's clear that these scenarios made him look bad.
Smoker has unfortunately gotten messed up by the plot since he wasn’t allowed to fight Vergo and his character made him instead sacrifice himself to get laws heart back - Cool character moment, sucks that people downplay him cause of it.
To be fair it’ll be interesting when smoker returns as a top tier basically
Oda is at his best when he does short or medium-length arcs. There his pacing is on point and the storytelling is sharp, clever and plausible.
Even the longer pre-skip story-arcs consisted of two medium-sized arcs or a few short arcs (WP-LG-Drum-Alabasta, Jaya-Skypiea, Water7 - Enies Lobby).
Post-skip he felt the need to write insanely long arcs (Dressrosa, WCI, Wano) that fell off their wheels down the road and developed a ton of issues in the especially bloated second half of those arcs.
It's no coincidence that Zou and Reverie are BY FAR the most beloved post-skip arcs by any fan with only a bit of interest in solid storytelling.
This of attributing a personal opinion onto a an unspecified “majority” whose existence itself is debatable is really a cheap tactic to validate a personal bias.
What are you talking about?
Vergo had to run away from a weakened Sanji
Judge had to hide behind his soldiers to fight Sanji
His brothers had to hide behind a female hostage so that Sanji wouldn’t kick their asses

From the moment Luffy defeated Crocodile, Smoker IMO went to the gutter. This story of SH hunter also ended up in Alabasta. In MF, if Luffy knew how to use Busoshoku as basic as possible, he could have even defeated Smoker. Oda didn't shit on Smoker, on the contrary, he made him acquire two Haki. You can't shit a character you never planned much on with.
Big Mom is still a pretty powerful character, placed in the Yonko Tier and above or equivalent to Admirals by most people. Puncture Wille created an extremely deep hole whose width is about the size of Onigashima, according to the sword going up, PW's explosion will decrease in size like a ground wire, BM absorbed all this energy directly inside his body and still tanked it, and was only defeated by a very powerful technique wounding her constantly and a nuclear bomb afterwards.. Oda also practically left BM without limits, what if she uses 10 years of her life span if with a year it got much bigger? Using 10 years she would literally be invincible.
Sanji shouldn't even be a voting option. Kuma ok, but it makes no sense to vote for him without knowing the story.
Who's left? Kid. Said to be a user of all Haki but didn't clearly show any. His techniques are simply based on giant metals hitting opponents. A lot of people interpret that he only caused damage because Law softened BM's body. Oda didn't draw pages of Kid facing BM alone, made BM extol Law's techniques and cry in fear every time Law threatened an attack, and screw Kid. Most people (and with some reason) put Kid below Law. There are even people who put him below Sanji, at the same level or below YC2, some really think Kid is weaker than Killer.
I have no doubt that it was the character that Oda spoiled the most.

If anything, technically, most of Sanji's battle related events are him getting the lesser treatment by Oda. While it's not always bad, you can't help but have that impression.
This is mostly because expectations don't meet reality, mostly because Sanji isn't allowed to shine brighter than Luffy Zoro (in battle related events).
We know Sanji has both high intellect and high strength.
His intellect often showcased when Savior Sanji, Hero Sanji, or Spy Sanji rpesent.
His strength often showcased, regardless of his enemy's powerlevel, Sanji mostly middiff or highdiff his opponent, very rarely extreme diff like Luffy Zoro.
With above's expectations, we hoped Oda become consistent with his overall abilities. But from time to time, Oda purposely nerfed Sanji just to fit the narrative (the stepping stone stuff I mentioned a few posts back).
During Arlong Park, Oda make 100% use of Sanji. His swimming skill and strength are shown. His intelligence also shown to counter Fishman's underwater advantage.
Same with Absalom. Oda allows Sanji to use his brain.
However, in a lot of events, Oda seems to turn off Sanji's brain. The Judge's situation and his siblings' situation, Sanji should've been able to bypass their cheap tactics. Like, those cheap and basic tactics are nothing against Sanji's actual intelligence.
Or Montblanc's situation I've mentioned. Sanji doesn't need to get bashed by him because of his speed is the best. Or the simple punches of Luffy and Jinbe. Oda had to draw Sanji getting bloodied.
Maybe, for veteran and enthusiastic Sanji fans, they know Oda did him bad on purpose. But for casual fans, Oda did treat Sanji worse. That's the point.

Latest example being Black Maria's situation. Every fans and their mother knows Sanji can easily left that place, but Oda's nerf once again "made" Sanji to be the stepping stone/hype tool/dumbass.
Granted, BM scene is happening to showcase Sanji's character development and Robin's entrance, so everything's fine.

This is just when people ignore the character and focus solely on the abilities.
Judge and Siblings: wasn’t that he couldn’t physically escape, it’s that he couldn’t risk Zeffs life at the hands of the BM Pirates. And trauma has a strong effect on people. “Using his brain” is hard when you’re regressed into a point in your life where you were most powerless.
You get the only people who called thes showings bad, were the “powerscalers.” The casual fans understood that these weren’t bad showings. It’s why everyone knew Sanji was going to call for help from robin, and no that wasn’t a bad showing, it shows a growth in Sanjis character where he took namis advice from EL. That if he can’t fight he should be willing to run.
