''Pirate'' Luffy defeating ''marine'' Lakainu achieves nothing. Defeating or even killing 1 marine won't change anything since they will keep sending more and they will just replace Lakainu with another guy and they will keep coming after Luffy. The only time you can make difference you can annihilate them entirely by destroying their headquarters (which BB tried but Shanks stopped him from doing it). Even WB was running away from marines since it's pointless to fight them if there is nothing to gain, but then he clashed with Roger.

Lakainu isn't a Luffy rival. Beating a marine was never the point of this series.

So, it's better suited for a Revolutionary or a marine.

Basically this. Also, Luffy holds no grudge towards Akainu anymore. Ace died with a smille on his face, having lived and died as a pirate, with Luffy remembering who it is worth to fight for again (his friends) and wanting to become stronger hence. With Shanks too saying that it is ok to cry but at some point, a man having to look forward. Even Garp, who initially wanted to kill Akainu, doesn't really care and accepted Ace' fate.

Now, Luffy has more important stuff to deal with being Joyboy, the liberator of the world.
