Controversial Who is more controversial for their own respective series' fanbases? Sasuke or Zoro?

Thank God I wasn't as immersed in the Naruto powerscaling and characterscaling debate compared to other fans because I have noticed Itachi fans and Pain fans absolutely despise the other and I'm glad it didn't swing my view
Both are my GOATs and wonderfully written characters. I think Itachi is the better character and like him more slightly but Pain will win in a 1v1 every day.

It's Sasuke by a pretty large margin mostly due to shippuden
A lot of people already found him annoying in the OG especially when he abandons the village. After the Valley of the End fight a ton of people hated him
Shippuden turns all of his annoying features (and relevance sadly) up to 11
Just watch any reaction of Sasuke vs Killer Bee and you'll see tons of people that were rejoicing when Sasuke finally got his ass whooped
Zoro isn't written to be controversial. He's literally just a cool guy that uses 3 swords and helps the main character
Very few people start One Piece and say "I hate that guy" it's usually the polar opposite

I favor itachi myself, but They both heavy fan favors for Sasuke/naruto fandoms for a reason. They were extremely great characters past just cool abilities/designs.
Pain barely could best the pervy Sage. Nagato one thing, but itachi/minato lvl guys take out the six paths of shit for sure with some difficulty.

Pain is a much better character IMO, but that doesn't mean Itachi was bad either.
I like both of those characters too. Pain top 2 (along with Madara), while Itachi somewhere in top 10.
There some some aspects where I felt Itachi could've been handled better (narratively), especially towards the end; but ultimately he was a good character.
Dude used to terrify me when I was a casual kid watching the show lol.
By Pain I mean Nagato only lol. He uses the OG guy has his true representative since he was his best friend, so they are pretty much the same character.
Powerscalling vice, prime Nagato is a completely different beast. It's been a while, so I forgot what happened that really weakened him in the end.
But it seemed like he could've used the energy of some high chakra shinobi and regained his prime whenever he wanted anyway.

Zoro is just a powerscaling controversy while Sasuke was a powerscalling, shipping, story and characterization controversy.
The other difference is that the Sasuke haters were honest about it and not hiding behind the weak ass excuse « it is his fans that I don’t like ».

The difference is hardly anybody would use the Yata shield argument, majority accepted it as hyperbole or swiftly dismissed due to lack of feats
Meanwhile “Minato is too fast” was a legitimate argument often pushed due to abundance of feats and portrayal tho misconstrued
War arc Minato was constantly getting upped by Tobirama or his reactions matched by Kakashi but Minato fans refused to accept both were at his level. Many even thought he could beat EMS Madara no PS despite the massive gap in portrayal (Hashirama the only one who could beat him) and skill (fighting a whole alliance with 3 Kage-lvl characters, blitzing SM Naruto, superior genjutsu, Uchiha fan that could block mini Bijuudama)
