Cause Oda doesn’t want to make new animal designs.

It’s Gaban, the scene where Luffy called the Roger pirates family and it silhouetted to the Kasa hat guy basically guarantees it
If that's the case about animals design then it's probably the most lazy thing I ever heard.

It's likely it could be Gaban more than Shiki now but still I am not convinced. Maybe next chapter finally provides actual answer.

Using non canon designs in canon so he can focus more on the important aspects of the story is fine. No reason spending any extra time coming up with unnecessary designs.

He only has his axes when he is fighting.

And his robe could easily cover them anyway

As for the red herring argument, literally the only reason anyone thinks it is Shiki is because of the clothing. You not think that’s the red herring, and the reason he’s not walking around with two giant axes is because it would really obvious then who he was and we wouldn’t have talked about it for decades?
Admitting that you make a good reference, that is only once, all 3 of those panels are the same conversation. He is on his boat with his friends chatting.
Why would he not have his axes on an island full of dangerous creatures, especially while he is approaching the castle where there is a distinct possibility of a fight? If he runs into the GK is he going to go back and get them? How about he is never portrayed walking into a dangerous situation without his axes.

I never denied the possibility of the Shiki robe being misdirection, but the hair is not Scopper, the outfit is not Scopper, and the axes are gone-Gaban. There is no reason to maintain such mystique for introducting a character we have already met in the story. Keeping Shamrock a secret justifies a lot of cloak and dagger, but Gaban is well-known already and means nothing to the plot. Why would Ripley not mention her husband by name if he is a friend of Shanks and a nice guy with a good reputation?

Never portrayed wearing a hat either.
Always portrayed with a ponytail and poofy black hair.

I will still go with Shiki
Oda gave him the hat for a purpose -> to cover his wheel

and don’t forget the giant animals from Strong World and his clothes are the same + we never saw his feet or legs
Oda covered them every single time
Shiki is a canon character and escaped from Impel Down, he HAS to play a role in story
Did he escape just to chill his life or what?

I find it amusing how the majority agree he is a Roger pirate because Oda made him appear when they talked about Roger pirates, but when people did the same for Kaidou's head they laughed their asses off...

Never partook in ZKK shit so spare any nonsense

The talk about the Roger Pirates being Shanks' family and the fact that someone is casually walking towards Luffy and Zoro - something a potential antagonist like Shiki wouldn't just do - makes me root for Scopper all the way.
He also would not further complicate this arc, as he's a easy to handle ally plot wise, especially with such an introduction context.

The whole plot leads us to believe it's Gaban lol
Luffy's speech about roger's pirates just before the shot on the mysterious man
Vegapunk's accusations against roger's pirates
Collon's speeches

say otherwise is pure copium:kayneshrug:

Gaban or another pirate who worked for Roger. Shiki only appeared in the movie because Oda never intended to give him much attention in the main story.

He's the new target for Zoro fanboys to project their insecurities onto, and we all know why , wink wink.

Completely different situations .
First, there's no way Oda would let a Straw Hat actually behead a character. Second, a secondary character landing the final blow on the main villain of the arc was never going to happen.
It was literally impossible .
ZKK was clearly just wishful thinking.

When you're so sure your favorite character and his parallels are so far above another's, you don't react like this. Gaban is not a threat to anyone but the ones who thought that the left hand of The Pirate King is somehow a nobody.
:kayneshrug:
Gaban is not a threat to me either, but it isn’t him. Not trying to be against him as a character. But Shiki is also more powerful, and we need someone with major capabilities to contribute anything meaningful to the combat. Having an almost-swordsman weaker than Zoro is no different from having one of the giant warriors on their side.
