Who will be the Final Villain?

I have no idea, I feel like Oda purposefully confuses us because he doesn’t want the end of OP to be too predictable.

The only thing I’m sure of is Akainu won’t be the final villain because Blackbeard has always been portrayed as a more important villain.

- I don’t believe the "Shanks mastermind" theory for a second, it makes no sense
- Kid hasn’t been portrayed as a villain and Wano pretty much killed any chance of it happening
- Smoker, Koby and Kong are technically antagonists but they’re not villains so they don’t fit the bill
- Dragon shouldn’t even be in the poll
- Rocks will probably be introduced way too late to be the final villain

I think it’s either Imu or Blackbeard, I’m leaning more towards Imu right now. Blackbeard is one of his targets so I think Luffy and Blackbeard could team up after their fight to take down Imu and the WG at Mary Geoise.
Blackbeard defeats Shanks. The marines and Luffy defeat Blackbeard. Garp gets caught for child sexual allegations and sent to Impel 6.
That escalated quickly.

I haven't personally read this interview, so I don't know how legit it is. But hasn't Oda gone on record stating One Piece won't end when Luffy becomes pirate king? To me, that implies all his rivals for Pirate King will be defeated (i.e. teach) and he'll have to face the last threat left, the W.G.. This also fits nicely into Luffy's definition of what would make him the actual pirate king—being the freest man in the world. The entity that is directly opposed to this mentality would be the 800 year old tyrannical, illuminati run government.

There are other reasons to think Shanks is the end antagonist that doesn't paint him as a "Mastermind". Im already seems to fit that description anyway. I see Shanks as a potentially troubled/flawed character.

- Ongoing conversations about other pirates to people who literally discuss mass genocide/rule the world through oppression/war

- Oddly respected by Sengoku "Because it's him"

- Always displaces a competitive/"evil" looking face when Luffy is mentioned

- Lucky Roo straight up shoots a bandit in the head (which no other "good" or protagonist type character has ever done). The Red Haired Pirates straight up brutalized Kid and his arm.

- An unknown question he asked Roger is currently unanswered.

So no, while I don't think Shanks is "evil" and a "Mastermind", I don't think it's white and black. The guy likely is alot more grey than we know. Yes, he cares and respects Luffy, yes he is likely trying to have him rise to the top, but I think it's all based in an ideology he thinks Luffy has.

It's like MLK and Malcolm X. Both wanted the same thing, yet both tried to achieve their goals in massively different ways. The same could possiblt be said about Shanks/Roger or Shanks/Luffy.

At the moment, we just totally don't know

Wow a lot of people want Imu to be the final villan huh? :kawak:

That's fine by me, I just hope that Oda gives him enough buildup, panel time and conflict with luffy for it to work. :goyea:

Depending on how much the story is left, I don't want Imu to end up like the rabbit god in Naruto, a boring villain who was introduced too late into the story who I never cared about. :kayneshrug:
Good final villians are made when they are at the top of the main protagonists number one kill list.

Interested in seeing how Oda is gonna make us end up hating Imu more than even Akainu and Blackbeard. :myman:

It depends. It won't be Teach, though he will be the apex villain, simply because the final war is almost definitely going to be triggered by Luffys emergence as pirate king

Which leaves the only options being Im, Akainu or one of Luffy's rivals

IMO Smoker and Coby take the reigns of a reformed marines post-final war - they are not final villain material

Dragon is not a villain

Shanks is not a villain

Kong isn't even an option - if it's someone from the WG it's Im or Akainu - Kong's like, maybe 9th choice on the list after all the Gorosei, the aforementioned two and the three Admirals below Akainu, whomever they are at the time

Rocks is probably dead - so not him

Do you guys still remember what WB said right before his death?

On that panel WB implied that someone will inherit roger's will, and will challenge the whole world and shoulder centuries of history. In my eyes, the only way to expose those histories is to find the one piece as it was also implicitly shown on that panel.

Does it mean Luffy will fight BB first to compete for the one piece and will fight the Marine afterwards?
