Questions & Mysteries Why ace never achieved his father's greatness

#41
As mentioned above, i agree it wasn't his main goal. He wanted to be acknowledged, but to do that, he indirectly wanted to do better than his dad and thus aimed for the one piece

He either wants WB or Luffy to become the PK. So he could be their first mate in the end as the best scenario, unless you need to kill both. WB was old and he wasn't going to live more, but Luffy was young and he wasn't going to die, so that wasn't going to happen without Luffy dying.

The reason is pretty clear honestly... he went WAY ahead of what he could handle + WB didn't stop him.
20 years Ace was much stronger than a lot of people think but he faced Teach and got killed by Sakazuki, two guys who are now en Emperor and a Fleet Admiral.

WB wanted him to be the Pirate King in the future so I'm sure he could live up to Roger's level in a "if he didn't die" scenario.
Also, Shanks says he knows Ace was very strong even at young age and Teach mentions that Ace didn't receive damage for quite some time until their fight.

Roger-The Giver Of Life

Akainu-The Taker Of Life

Roger was the one who gave Ace life through birth, Akainu the one who took that life through penetration.

Another instance of Oda portraying the Pirate King and Akainu Sama as equals and opposites.

:madmonk:

Actually, Ace’s life both began and ended at penetration via Roger and Akainu

As far as we know Roger does not have a little brother who needed to be protected at a specific time.

Plus didnt Oda wanted Ace to die from the start? So his plot armor was brittle. :owo:
