Chapter Discussion Why did Rayleigh not tagteam Blackbeard with Boa?

Rayleigh said he would not win in a head on fight with blackbeard at his age. Fine. But why didn't he just attack blackbeard while his back was turned to him, freeing boa in the process? Wouldnt freeing boa cause her to turn blackbeard to stone like blackbeard himself said she would? And even if it was not that simple, you would still essentially have an injured blackbeard against a fresh rayleigh and a somewhat injured boa.


I know plot armor exists, but like, this is kinda really stupid.

Why would we take Rayleigh's admission that he would lose to BB in a head on fight into consideration, but not BB's admission that if Boa was freed, she would turn him to stone?

Plot armor is everything but that.

Rayleigh main reason was to save Amazon Lily and it citizens. He never intend to take down Teach.

What could have being plot armor was Teach not fighting against Rayleigh. It doesn't make sense since he wants Hancock's power. But also doesn't make sense him waiting for Shichibukai system to be over. Unless he doesn't believe in his own strength and waited for Hancock to be under marine attack to take advantage of that situation.

Because, nothing is guaranteed. Rayleigh antagonizing/cornering Teach could lead to Boa's (or others) death(s).

De-escalating is the safest route.

He would sense Rayleigh coming and could easily snap Boa's neck in that timeframe

It also not beneficial for them to fight and get 3rd partied (Marines/Admirals/WG)

Blackbeard would win but he's for sure not coming out uninjured vs a veteran
