The hint is there in Kaido's wording.

"Roger and Whitebeard.... They DID IT RIGHT."

What we can infer from that is that however Xebec died, it was in a way that Kaido feels is unbecoming of a Pirate. I feel like he might have abandoned his crew during the battle of God's Valley, and ended up dying alone on some deserted island.
This is exactly what i said in the spoilers thread

kaidos words on the top left speak volumes i dont see wb running, captain john was killed, meme probably;y saved a young kaido and that is his debt to her.

Either Rocks is alive or Oda doesnt want some other death to overshadow/be comparable to Roger's and WB's.
The thing I wonder instead is why Kaido didnt mention Oden? Does he think his death isnt worthy?
Because it is certainly up there at the top.
He already said to oden his death was commendable before he killed him, no to mention the scabbards were there for that one.

Lol you'd think that Kaido is jealous of Roger and Whitebeard, with the way he keeps trying to idolize / copy their way of life/death

They are literally living rent free in his head :yearight:

B-but then again makes sense since he is among the silver medalists after all, so of course another silver medalist(Xebec) isn't going to be under his radar

WB was a silver medalist too according to your logic. Not only that, BB killed his crewmate and he wasn't going do shit about it. Mr. Bad feeling. Then couldn't save Ace and died to that same person who betrayed his crew.

Cuz Rocks' death was the opposite of glorious. Not many know he existed at all & those who do aren't really talkers
Kaido would know if he wemt out like a man.

Whitebeard was a Gold Medealist, which is why Roger was content with dying, knowing there was another person on the same level as him that he could trust.

Whitebeard and Roger both received very public, well-documented demises, whereas Xebec’s defeat was completely censored by the WG and is largely unknown to the world. The possibility of Rocks being alive is more than slim, but I don’t think that bit of dialogue is specifically meant to imply that.
I think it’s the possibility of him being dead that’s actually very slim.
