Character Discussion Why do people hate Coby?

I don't hate him, just annoyed by the portrayal.
I was cool with him until he fell for the damsel in distress decoy, combined with the crying and whining he was doing at Hachinosu. To me it showed me that he was the same dude that was in Marineford.
I'm hoping Garp's capture (or death) serves as a massive character development point for him and he starts living up to his full potential.

To be honest, I have big problems with his fans. If even now they are acting so arrogant, how would they act if Coby were in Luffy's place or Zoro's? His fans greatly interfere not only with enjoying the character, but even with perceiving him. Because of them, Coby is now associated with something negative, but he is such a sunshine.

Because Boa waifu nerds hate the fact that people said Koby could beat Boa Hancock. Any other answer is complete nonsense cope, Koby is barely in the story saying he is "One-Dimensonal" is the most surface level take you could have. Give a character time to develop before disliking them out the gate. In response to the Koby slander campaign that Hag fans keep pushing Koby fans have had to become more defensive about our like for him, its completely reasonable for us to be irritable after being relentlessly shat upon from 1059 onwards.

He just had one single impressive attack in a desperate situation - that's it.
Heck, is now the dude with the King Punch from Dressrosa admiral level, too?
Koby will become an admiral, but it will be in the epilogue after another timeskip.
Right now he's still far away, low VA level at the very best (and even that is a massive stretch).

Coby is almost a spoiler for a One Piece sequel starring the main characters' children, one of whom (probably Luffy's son) will admire Coby. In doing so, Luffy, Zoro and Sanji will be turned into clowns like Naruto and Sasuke in Boruto. This is the worst case scenario. Oda just needs to give Coby screen time to show the process. Lately, I can't trust Oda. Are you trying to tell me that Kin'emon is more interesting than Coby? Oda is no longer the great writer he used to be, and we may get even more cringe in the future.
