Break Week Why do some Straw hats get penalized for shining in arcs or getting an arc in the future?

Usopp got some shitty development in Dressrosa and that's used to explain why he has been sidelined for the last 8 years, Brook got good development in WCI, so he cant shine in Wano. Zoro, Robin, Usopp, Franky were present in an arc where they had to share screentime with dozens of side characters so they had to be sidelined in WCI.

Usually people come up with the excuse that the crew is too large to give screentime to everybody and that makes a little sense until you see all the side characters getting chapters dedicated to them, plus flashbacks, plus fights while the main characters get shafted, it's a weird method by Oda

Exactly my sentiments. I was going to post a similar thread but you beat me to it.

That is the cult's way to rationalize things, "wait until Elbaf for Usopp to shine". Writing rule 101, if your main characters don't have anything to contribute within an 8 year gap, you have failed as a writer.

Being declared as "God" and having his own statue in Dressrosa is a bad treatment now?:usoprice:

For your thread, Dressrosa and Wano suffered for having too much side characters. At least WCI didn't have that much side characters and let the main casts like Sanji, Nami, Jinbei, Carrot, Chopper, Brook, etc. shines. Which is one of the reasons why I prefer WCI over Wano and Dressrosa.

He got called a god by being in the right place at the right time, not only that but that moment was terrible for Usopp's future character development because Ida has abused the Usopp wins via luck route way too much since Dressrosa, Big Mom saves him, Izo saves him, Tama of all people saves him, but that's alright because he has god as his epithet

Makes sense

Usopp didn't shine at all in Wano, she should shine robustly in Elbaf :josad:
Not true.

Remember when Tama tried to use Usopp's fake toad oil to revive her father?
Remember when Usopp had a moment to consider the weight that some of his lies can have on people's lives despite his intentions?

Oh wait....he didnt have that.

I KNOW! Remember when Nami was being bullied by Ulti and Usopp was thinking to himself that Nami should make a stand and not let Ulti mock Luffy's dream, like he once did in Alabasta?

Oh wait...he actually thought she should just lie and agree with Ulti just to protect herself.

Yeah...I got nothing. Usopp got completely rekt this arc.
At least he told Kin and Kiku that they are fucking annoying as fuck. We take those.

You don't understand that moment at all...
Usopp is willing to sacrifice himself to defend Luffy's "honor" as he did in the past.
He isn't willing to have Nami sacrifice herself.
