Hey People!

Looks like a simple question, a short thaught, but take a moment and think about it. Why do you like or even love one piece? Why do you watch and read it for several years, spend so much time in a forum like this for it and what is in it that catches you so much?

We all have our reasons and I am pretty sure they are different on each own, so I really like to hear your reasons, to understand your passion!

I love One Piece because it's an incredible story and really well done anime/manga. One Piece also have a incredible world building in my opinion. It is also a long running series which I really like LOL. Every individual characters have their own good backstory and amazing growth and development throughout the series such as the Strawhats. That's what make One Piece one of my favorite anime/manga series out there. #WeAreNakama

I think at this point, other than thinking it was cool at first, for me I've read about the characters for so long and after so many developmental arcs that I can't just not love it in the end. Although there are some questionable decisions made from Oda, I'm just so invested in it that I know and believe it will turn out for the better and stick to how amazing it is. I know there are things like Zoro vs. Sanji, Shanks vs. Mihawk, but at the end of the day I enjoy them as characters as much as Luffy and others since they all play a great and important role to help the story.

Oda knows how to bring out emotion, hell I know a lot of people cried for the Merry and especially for Ace because they grew fond of them or their relationship with the crew.

I'm attached to the characters and reading along as part of the ride, seeing their experiences, tragedies, and adventures. I really wanna know how it ends for all of them.

Lot of things. Nostalgia, world building and all the small details Oda dishes out, the foreshadowings, the twists (Ace is Roger's son, minks true colors, Kaido of the 100 hostages), all the care for details even in things like powers, just look at haki: coa, coo, coc and even subtypes among them (FS, sense presences, advanced haki, blacken blades etc etc), flame pattern haki, use of haki and df powers together, df power which can awaken. Then there was the chemistry between the crew but that is a thing lost in the past in favor of a plethora of secondary characters that have to be introduced in every arc. Then the fandoms as well, look at the usual Z vs S batner, people like Arthur disecting chapters in every small detail and show how complex a OP chapter really is.

So, seeing a few Responses i let you know why i love One Piece.
Lets start with a Flashback... Back then when i was younger, i was used to watch one piece (together with Digimon and Dragonball) with my 5 years younger brother on TV. We were Kids, Boys and we fighted alot, you can imagine. We lost our Father early (he was not even 3 years old back then), so we only had our mother and our doggo. When i kinda had to watch him often, we often fighted and disagreed alot, but with these 3 Shows, we Always came together. Even when we had a fight before, got hurt, disliked each other alot, when One piece came in TV, then there was this Quality brother time, no matter what. Looking back at the time, it was what we needed.

The years came into the land, we grew up, i went 18 and left the house to study (around 400km away from home). First, we went apart from each other, cause he started to get interest in Girls, i tried to get an own life with studying and Friends and stuff (seriously, i kinda had not enough time for my Little brother back them, or didnt took enough time, still Feeling guilty). When he had then some Trouble (no Details, Police involved, but Nothing really serious) and he came to me, asking for help, because he didnt wanted to bother our mom. That was the Moment we restarted watching One Piece together. Since then, every Sunday, even Living hundreds of Kilometers away from each other, we meet in Teamspeak, or nowadays Discord, and watch One Piece together. We talk About it, we laugh, we discuss. Every Sunday. And even when i am 30 years old now, it is something i will Always do together with my brother, like we did as Kids.

So apart from this, One Piece has just great aspects of story telling. It is huge, has great world building, has so many reoccuring stuff, so much people... It is like and endless expanding world, which makes it so believable. its not just (if i take Naruto f.e.) one village and feeling like the whole world is working around naruto, or dragonball, where the only thing matters is Goku. One Piece is a living world, with an history, with stories about noland, stories about Oden, with sceneries where the maincast isnt and wont be involved, like reverie. I really love the world building aspect, but also i love how you get connected to different persons, to their history and even get emotionally involved into a ship.

So i guess there are the main reasons for me.

:perocry: That's too beautiful.

I've seen this thread before, but I don't think that my limited English knowledge could even come close to describing why I love it. I guess the most simple reason would be that the OP universe is so vast, yet in contrast it's about a tight knit group of friends ultimately. People following their dreams won't stop being inspiring no matter how old we are. And it's been with me the majority of my life, it's like another important nakama, can't even imagine life without it.
