Character Discussion Why does Fandom see Weevil as one of the weakest Warlords?

It wasn't explicitly, but he is the only viable option.
That was what it was said:
So, it was a new Schici, and we had 3 new ones: Buggy, Law and Weevil (even though at the time we didn't even know his name or anything about him, really).
Now, Buggy, even though younger, was theoretically there, but obv. he isn't an option since he couldn't have done it even in a million years. Not to mention he was in the East Blue.
Law in theory had a cutting weapon, but outside the way of working of the Ope Ope, we are talking about not even pre TS Law but, since Z's arm was cut off 11 years ago, 15 years old Law.
So, it's impossibile even for him: he didn't have at all the strenght to do that; not even pre TS, let alone ten years before that.
The third new Schici is Weevil... who was 24 at the time, so an adult, had indeed a cutting weapon and had probably the strength since he was compared to young WB.
At all this was "confirmed" years later, since at the time we didn't know absolutely anything about Weevil, but even then we knew that this "new Schici" had to be the culprit.
Last but not least: "a new character", so only Weevil qualifies under all categories.

The thing with Zephyr is that it never mattered as Zephyr isn't a canon character, and this detail about a pirate cutting his arm and later becoming a warlord was just a plot detail for the Z movie.
And Oda visibly didn't bind himself to this movie and Z character when he wrote the warlords post ts.

Well, Z is anyway kind of gray area: Oda was involved and the Volume 1000 had Indeed canon information about a bunch of characters.
The same "information" we had about Weevil, like the cutting weapon, were kind of confirmed.
The past itself is grey. Probably is not canon in the real history of the manga, but who knows.

On the thread, agree that reason most probably don't rate him is coz of his design. One Piece fans can't help themselves with design scaling lol but I do think Oda hyping him without delivering on it (yet) and then making him job off panel to Aramaki could be another reason for it. All warlords except Mihawk would job to Aramaki as well tbh but don't think Oda's handled his character particularly well particularly after hyping him up as a Young WB.
